  • Patent number: 7482021
Abstract: A wipe having at least two sides for applying a cleansing material and a drying material to a skin surface. The cleansing material may be applied to a first side of the wipe, and the drying material to a second side of the wipe. The first side of the wipe is used to clean a skin surface by rubbing the wipe across the skin surface. The first side of the wipe removes dirt, grease and other materials from the skin surface. The second side of the wipe removes any dirt, grease or other materials not removed by the first side of the wipe and the cleansing material. The second side of the wipe also leaves a substance having a powdery feel on the skin surface.

  • Patent number: 6783767
Abstract: A powder composition which reacts in water to form in situ peroxycarboxylic acids at an anti-microbially effective concentration. Importantly, its utility is both for topical anti-microbial application and for effective low temperature disinfection/sterilization of instruments. It comprises the combination of a perborate, one or more novel acyl and/or aroyl donors, a buffering system which allows the pH to arise to about 9 for rapid formation of the peroxycarboxylic acids and then drop to about 7.5 for sustained stability and microbial kill. It preferably includes a surfactant facilitating antimicrobial efficacy, as well as other minors.

  • Patent number: 6071043
Abstract: The invention provides a method for securing waste landfills so as to prevent seepage of fluids into natural formations. A coating composition containing rubber crumb is sprayed onto polymeric liners enclosing the waste so as to encapsulate the ends or seams.

  • Patent number: 5951947
Abstract: A method for preparing fertilizer from animal, human and medical waste utilizing vacuumized microwave pathogen decontamination. The invention contemplates simultaneously heating the waste and reducing the pressure the reaction chamber in which the waste is located. As a result of the invention, the waste is decontaminated at a low temperature and the nutrients are preserved. The decontaminated waste is then mixed with a planting medium such as soil. The method may also include adding a diluting substance, chosen from the group consisting of humate, sawdust and sand, to dilute the nitrogen content of the disinfected waste.

  • Patent number: 5675882
Abstract: The invention provides an apparatus for removing at least one bead from a tire. The apparatus includes a conveyor for tires and a sensor which centers the tire about a debeading device and a cutting device. The conveyor then moves the cut tire to a second position wherein the bead is pulled from the tire. A microprocessor is used to position the tires and for resetting the devices for treating additional tires.

  • Patent number: 5613221
Abstract: A radiation shield for a hand-held cellular telephone is made up of a metal strip placed between the antenna rod of the telephone and the speaker. The strip has a flat body portion and an upper portion that is curved away from the rod. Overall length of the strip is slightly longer than the antenna rod, and its width is 1 to 1 1/2 inches. Radiation fields reaching the head of a user whose ear is placed near the speaker are substantially reduced by the shield.

  • Patent number: 5611492
Abstract: The invention provides an apparatus and method for grinding and separating pre-softened refuse tire portions. The pre-softened portions are compaction ground with tapered auger positioned in a housing. The ground material which is discharged from the housing is thereafter magnetically separated into a metal refuse fraction and a rubber crumb product fraction. Optionally a second stage apparatus is provided. The second stage apparatus differs from the apparatus substantially only in respect to further comprising a second housing for enclosing said second auger which has rifling on the inner surface thereof and which runs counter to the flights of said second auger; and means for rotating said second housing counter to said second auger. Crumb rubber product from the apparatus is fed into the inlet of the second stage. A 200 mesh crumb rubber is thereafter recovered from the outlet of the second stage.
