  • Patent number: 5215537
Abstract: An elastomeric member for occluding a medical terminal such as a junction terminal to provide a seal and penetratable to establish fluid connection by a blunt needle or cannula in which improved security against passage of contamination is provided. The needle or cannula preferably passes through a perforated passage. The passage can have at least two portions, one having a slit for normally sealing tightly in the absence of a cannula or needle and the other having a bore communicating with the slit and closely conforming to the cannula surface. Other sealing arrangements are detailed.

  • Patent number: 5189752
Abstract: A single triple/twin wiper replacement carrier and blade unit for a twin wiper unit having parallel extending struts interconnected by a bridge is comprised of a flexible carrier formed by at least two or three essentially parallel struts defining a longitudinal direction, a bridge structure coupling the struts to each other in an essentially parallel relationship, at least two conventional wiper blades, each of the blades extending in the longitudinal direction essentially parallel to the struts, the blades being supported by and extending downward from the carrier and means for attaching the wiper replacement carrier and blade unit to a twin wiper unit wherein each of the struts is capable of receiving each of the blades. There are attachment elements for removably attaching the carrier to a twin wiper unit. The wiper replacement carrier may either be a triple or twin wiper replacement carrier, either of which may be removably attachable to a twin wiper unit.

  • Patent number: 5163902
Abstract: A manifold for fluid connection of a plurality of sources of fluid for a patient in which a number of inlet ports on the upper surface of a housing communicate with a lower outlet port by passages or bores which merge to a single passages or bore. The ports are respectively occluded by elastomeric sealing members adapted to be penetrated by a needle or cannula. Preferably, the inlet ports are symmetrical or coincident with an axis so the distance travelled by the fluid from each source is substantially the same.

  • Patent number: 4938472
Abstract: A stacking game in which square shaped markers are placed on an inclined surface and supported directly or indirectly by raised portions forming notches extending along the lower edge of the surface. A plurality of such surfaces can be joined together in a pyramid or other configuration.

  • Patent number: 4642116
Abstract: A lens with a central optic of material denser than the aqueous humor of the eye and having a substance incorporated therein, preferably an inert gas in a bubble, of a lesser density. In one embodiment gas bubbles are incorporated in the top and bottom of an ovoid lens and in a second embodiment in an annular ridge extending outwardly from the rear surface of the lens to also space the rear surface from the posterior capsule.

  • Patent number: 4634441
Abstract: A posterior chamber intra-ocular implant in which a lens of a material such as polysulfone or polymethylmethacrylate is lodged in a pocket of a carrier of a material such as silicone or a hydrophilic polymer. Haptic loops extend from the carrier to position the implant in the posterior chamber. Protrusions may be provided on the rear surface of the carrier to space the implant from the posterior capsule.

  • Patent number: 4629461
Abstract: A posterior chamber intra-ocular lens with a plurality of separated protrusions extending rearwardly from the lens to separate the optical portion from the posterior capsule. The protrusions may be integral with the lens body or formed as a separate element. The protrusions may be fixed in bore holes or mounted in a ring. Material more flexible and softer than the lens body such as silicone or HEMA can be used for the protrusions.

  • Patent number: 4583399
Abstract: A precipitation gauge in which precipitation is absorbed by a suitable material having two pairs of grids also disposed therein to form two capacitances. An ac signal is applied to the grids to measure the impedance between the grids and hence the volume of precipitation absorbed.
