  • Patent number: 4723567
Abstract: A compact gas flow control valve has a valve body having an inlet for receiving gas pressure, to provide gas at a substantially constant delivery pressure to be delivered by the gas flow control valve, and an outlet for delivery of the gas. Flow rate of the delivered gas is controlled by a rotor. A flow control plate covering the rotor has a plurality of orifices produced by one of various processes including mechanical drilling, laser drilling, piercing, punching, and selective etching. A selector mechanism orients the rotor to permit flow only through a selected one of said orifices at such delivery pressure for delivery by the outlet. The orifices define a preselected schedule of different flow rates determined by the diameter of the respective orifices.

The control valve is positioned by a shaft and flow control knob having a positive detent mechanism for preventing stable orientation in a position other than for selected flow control.

  • Patent number: 4655246
Abstract: A compact, regulated gas flow control valve includes a valve body having a clamp for securement to a high pressure gas cylinder. An inlet at one end receives the high pressure gas from the cylinder. A piston-actuated regulator drops the high pressure to a low pressure, maintaining the low pressure at a substantially constant delivery value. An outlet and a flow control selector knob are located at the other end of the valve body. The knob selects a preselected flow rate for delivery of the low pressure gas by the outlet. The knob controls position of a rotor carrying a plurality or precalibrated flow control orifice inserts, the knob being rotatable but with positive detenting for orienting the rotor to permit flow only through a selected one of the orifice inserts for delivery by said outlet. The sequence of orifice inserts defines a preselected schedule of different flow rates upon rotation of the said selector knob.

  • Patent number: 4613112
Abstract: A quick-disconnect fitting for quick connection or disconnection of an oxygen line, for receiving a gas line plug of the type having a plug flange to provide gas to an oxygen line terminated by the plug. A metal valve body has a threaded inner end for being threadably received by a source of pressurized oxygen and an outer end carrying a molded plastic cap having a receptacle for receiving the plug. The valve body includes a plunger-type valve axially shiftable therein between open and closed positions, the valve carrying at its upper end a poppet for sealing engagement with a valve seat of the valve body when the valve is closed. A compression spring surrounds the valve for urging it into closed position. A nose of the plug engages and maintains open the valve member when the plug is received within the cap for receiving gas from the source. The cap carries a locking plate for selective locking engagement with the plug flange when the plug is received.
