  • Patent number: 10555844
Abstract: This disclosure provides a system that combines together a wheelchair ramp and lift. The system starts inside the vehicle interior so that the ramp, when deployed, only protrudes several inches from the edge of the vehicle rather than several feet. This increases flexibility in the entry and egress of a wheelchair to and from a vehicle.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 29, 2018
Date of Patent: February 11, 2020
    Assignee: All-Terrain Conversions, LLC
Inventors: Steven L. Kitchin, Trent L. Bradburn, Kraig James Schlosser
  • Patent number: 10470951
Abstract: A wheelchair lift for a vehicle having a cab with a rear seat. The wheelchair lift includes a lift tray dimensioned to support a wheelchair. An articulating assembly is provided that is configured to move the lift tray transversely between an extended position outside a cab of a vehicle and a retracted position fully within the cab of the vehicle. The wheelchair lift includes a vertical lift assembly configured to raise and lower the lift tray. In some cases, the articulating assembly is mounted to a vertical wall of a vehicle cab between a rear seat and a vehicle door.

  • Patent number: 9603759
Abstract: The present invention provides a compact wheelchair lift mechanism useable within a relatively small vehicle cabin space, such as a pickup truck with an extended cabin. The wheelchair lift includes a lateral actuator and a vertical actuator that cooperate to move a wheelchair support laterally in and out of a vehicle cabin and vertically between the cabin floor and the ground. The vehicle includes a lowered floor for expanding the vertical opening available to the lift, wheelchair, and vehicle occupant. The lift is positioned within the vehicle cabin such that no loss of seating capacity results from the installation of the lift.

  • Publication number: 20160054279
Abstract: A novel method for testing if smoking has occurred within a space. Smoking is determined to have happened by testing for and confirming the presence of nicotine using a lateral flow test strip. The nicotine may be captured from secondhand smoke by exposing the condensing pad of the lateral flow tester to air within the space prior to activating the test strip. The nicotine may also be captured as part of thirdhand smoke residue on a surface within the space. A prior art commercially available lateral flow test strip used to test for the presence of cotinine within a biological sample, is used in novel ways for detecting for the past presence of nicotine smoke within a space. Improvements to the test apparatus are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8668011
Abstract: A method of hydraulically fracturing a formation comprises controlling a pump rate during hydraulic fracturing of the first section of the horizontal well bore during a first period to break down the formation while reducing pick up of sand positioned in the well bore; during a subsequent second period to pick up the sand positioned in the well bore generally at a rate at which the formation will accept the sand; and, during a subsequent third period to fracture the formation.

  • Publication number: 20090307910
Abstract: A method and apparatus for cutting conduit. The apparatus preferably comprises a motor operated cutting blade which is slideable relative to a fixture for holding the conduit. The fixture is preferably spring loaded and preferably sufficiently grips the conduit so that only one hand is needed to operate the saw and cut the conduit. Alternatively the conduit may be held by one hand while the saw is operated by the other hand. The saw is preferably cordless.

  • Patent number: 3984906
Abstract: A device for wrapping sheet, such as a foam panel, about a tubularly shaped object article, such as pipe sections of a pipeline. The device engages the substantially flat sheet and cams it about the curved pipe body circumference by pivoting yokes so as to cause the sheet to be wrapped about the pipe body. After the sheet is wrapped about the pipe body its free edges are fastened together so that the device can be removed.
