  • Publication number: 20100307210
Abstract: A vertical manure converter and related process of using activated carbon in an activated carbon/organic material mixture to process organic waste. Inducing air, preferably compressed, into a chamber of the converter in combination with reusing activated carbon can result in a continuous process. The temperature can be controlled by regulating the air into the chamber. The vertical manure converter takes organic waste and uses heat to accelerate the composting process wherein final products can be purified water and ash fertilizer.

  • Publication number: 20100163678
Abstract: An air intake duct of an aircraft engine or other component is provided with a thermal anti-icing system. The front of the air intake duct comprises a toroidal outer skin (16) which forms, with a toroidal internal bulkhead (18), a toroidal plenum (8) about the centre line (26). The bulkhead has an inner edge nearest the centre line. Within the plenum there is a toroidal inner skin (9) defining with the outer skin a substantially continuous toroidal channel (19). Hot air is supplied via an inlet (7) to the plenum (8). The air flows into an inlet (14) at an end of channel (19) and out of an outlet (11) through the bulkhead (18). This provide more heat to the leading edge of the duct, and to the surface of the duct facing the centre line, than to other parts of the duct to prevent build up of ice which may enter, and damage, the engine. This reduces the mass flow of hot air needed for de-icing.

  • Patent number: 5976225
Abstract: A filter frame and media capable of withstanding repeated heating to high temperatures in an oxidizing environment, and a method of cleaning the same for indefinite use in a method of operating industrial paint booths. Progressive density, heat resistant, and preferably metal media paint booth filters are provided for replacement of existing filters in industrial paint booths. The filters are structurally resistant to cyclic heating to high temperature in an oxidizing bake-off oven where the paint residue accumulated on the filters is reduced to ash. After cooling, the ash is removed, and the filters returned to service, and the cycle is repeated. The filter comprises a frame section and a mesh media section which has a plurality of mesh portions. The mesh portions are preferably arranged in a series M.sub.1, M.sub.n-1, M.sub.n, wherein n is a positive integer of 4 or more, that are sized with the free face area A.sub.

  • Patent number: 5681132
Abstract: A pneumatic pumping system for conveying particulate materials in system piping. The pumping system includes a linear accelerator apparatus having an inductor assembly with an inductor nozzle cooperating with a venturii casing in which the venturii casing has a shroud portion encompassing a discharge orifice of the inductor nozzle to form an annular passage through which pressurized conveying gas is directed, the conveying gas mixing with a material flow through the nozzle, the material flow through the nozzle being facilitated by a gas stream directed along an inside wall of the inductor nozzle, the linear accelerator apparatus being combined with other apparatus including a material pumping unit or a pressurized pod system, or, incorporated in-line in the system piping as a flow booster.

  • Patent number: 4348424
Abstract: The invention provides a sprayable plant care composition which, in its preferred aspects, comprises a continuous aqueous phase comprising gelatin hydrolysate, urea, dissolved phosphorus and potassium salts, and an amount of preservative effective to prevent microbial growth in the composition; a dispersed phase comprising orange peel wax and glycerol as a diluent for the wax; and an emulsifier comprising polyoxyethylene (20) sorbitan monostearate in an amount effective to provide a stable emulsion and provide a cleansing action when the composition is applied to the foliage of a plant. When applied as a spray to plant leaf surfaces, the composition produces an attractive shine and an appealing aroma, provides plant nutrients absorbable by the leaf, and serves as an effective rinse to cleanse the leaf.
