  • Patent number: 9826463
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices are described that allow for partial matching of published services or service names, including compressed service names. The described features employ compression techniques, including hashing; and they allow for partial matching of compressed service name strings. Various embodiments are described that provide for identifying a desired service (or attributes of a desired service) and comparing one or more advertised attributes. The comparison of desired and advertised attributes may be utilized to determine, select, and or locate an advertised service.

  • Publication number: 20170180953
Abstract: A method, an apparatus, and a computer-readable medium for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus performs group discovery to determine a group of proximate devices. The group of proximate devices includes the apparatus. The apparatus receives a first message from a second wireless device. The second wireless device is in the group of proximate devices. The apparatus forwards at least a portion of information included in the first message to a node. Additionally, the apparatus receives a second message from the node. The second message is in response to the forwarded information. The apparatus performs an operation corresponding to the second message.

  • Patent number: 9319862
Abstract: A method and an apparatus for wireless communication are provided. In one aspect, the apparatus may be a user equipment (UE), base station, or access point. The apparatus broadcasts peer discovery information in a high-level expression data structure that supports multiple discovery technologies from a variety of wireless networks. By using the high-level expression data, the apparatus may use a single, unified discovery application programming interface for signaling the presence of any supplemental cross-technology discovery information as such information became available. In another aspect, the apparatus may be a UE. The apparatus receives the broadcasted high-level expression data in a peer discovery signal and processes the data.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 6, 2014
Date of Patent: April 19, 2016
    Assignee: QUALCOMM Incorporated
    Inventors: James Kelleman, James Sienicki

  • Patent number: 6216196
Abstract: A computer system for controlling the operation of a multifunction device, including a central processing unit, a memory device connected to the central processing unit, a plurality of device drivers, wherein each of the plurality of device drivers issues commands to control the multifunction device and an arbitration mechanism connected to the plurality of device drivers and further connected to the multifunction device, wherein commands issued by the plurality of device drivers are received by the arbitration mechanism, and wherein the arbitration mechanism determines a sequence for the commands to be issued to the multifunction device.
