  • Patent number: 11859293
Abstract: Methods to partially decrease reflectivities of at least two regions on a mirror platform relative to a reflectivity of a third region are taught. A first region is defined on a surface of the mirror platform. The first region is a media display device viewing area. A second region is defined on the surface of the mirror platform. The second region is a back lit area. A first material is selectively disposed onto a rear surface of the mirror platform outside of the first region and outside of the second region. The first material increases the reflectivity of the mirror platform outside of the first region and outside of the second region. When the mirror platform is viewed from a front side a reflectivity of a third region, which is outside of the first region and outside of the second region, is greater than a reflectivity of either the first region or the second region; and a reflectivity of the first region is different than a reflectivity of the second region.

  • Patent number: 11778706
Abstract: Systems and methods include reading a value of a desired light color temperature-time function. A first drive signal parameter is selected for a first light source having a first color temperature and a second drive signal parameter is selected for a second light source having a second color temperature. The drive signal parameters are selected to create a color temperature for a value of the desired light color temperature-time function. First light is emitted from the first light source and second light from the second light source. The first light and the second light combine to form blended light at the color temperature for the value of the desired light color temperature-time function.

  • Patent number: 11640017
Abstract: Apparatuses, methods, and systems are taught that convey information in a mirror to a user. A glass layer has a front side and a back side. The glass layer further includes a first region. The first region has a first optical property. A second region has a second optical property. The first optical property is different than the second optical property. A first boundary exists where the first region meets the second region and the first boundary is shaped to convey information when the second region is illuminated from the back side and the glass layer is viewed from the front side by the user. When the second region is not illuminated from the back side the first region and the second region provide substantially the same reflection when the glass layer is viewed from the front side by the user, and the first boundary does not convey information.

  • Patent number: 10972696
Abstract: A reflective cover for a flat panel display includes a surface which is both reflective and transmissive. The cover includes a perimeter frame which is configured to couple to the surface around a perimeter of the surface. The perimeter frame further includes an engagement device. The engagement device is attached to the perimeter frame. The engagement device is configured to engage with a mounting bracket. A blackout shroud is coupled to the perimeter frame to form an opening. The opening is sized so that during mounting, the flat panel display is inserted into the opening and the engagement device engages with the mounting bracket. In operation, when the flat panel display is in an on state images displayed thereon are visible through the surface and when the flat panel display is in an off state a reflection is provided from the surface.

  • Patent number: 10106896
Abstract: A method to create a media display device viewing area in a mirror platform includes isolating the media display device viewing area from the rest of a glass layer of the mirror platform. The glass layer has a backing layer and an optional paint layer. A solvent is applied to remove optional protective paint, if present, from a backing layer within the media display device viewing area. The protective paint, if present, is scraped from the media display device viewing area. An etching solution is applied to the media display device viewing area to remove the backing layer. The media display device viewing area is rinsed.
