  • Patent number: 10556085
Abstract: A heat-moisture exchanger device for use with a patient ventilator circuit is provided. A rotatable central element is positioned in a housing, and a filter is coupled to the rotatable central element. A first conduit can allow fluid to enter or exit a chamber of the housing and a second conduit on an opposed surface can allow fluid to enter or exit the chamber. A third conduit on the rotatable central element can selectively place the first conduit in sealed fluid communication with the second conduit when the rotatable central element is in a first position. Alternatively, the rotatable central element can be rotated to a second position in which the third conduit does not place the first conduit in sealed fluid communication with the second conduit, and any fluid flowing through the chamber must pass through the filter.

  • Patent number: 7069928
Abstract: A first and second housing is joined together by a middle housing rotatable with respect to the first and second housing. The first and second housings have conduits passing through exterior walls and an annular ring on an inside wall together with an annular interior edge rotatably joined to first and second side rim channels of the middle housing. A heat-moisture exchanger material having an annular opening through which a tube passes is mounted within the middle housing so that in a first rotatable position air and moisture passes through the first and second housing conduits directly and in a second rotatable position must pass through the heat-moisture exchange material.

  • Patent number: 6792946
Abstract: A first and second housing joined together and rotatable with respect to each other, each housing having a conduit integral with an exterior wall, the conduits each having passageways leading to an internal portion of the respective housings. An internal edge of each housing mounts a heat-moisture exchange material having a transverse opening axially aligned with the passageway of the closest conduit. The passageway in the respective conduits are offset permitting passage of air to and from the patient through the heat-moisture material. The housings are rotated with respect to each other to axially align the passageways in the two conduits to permit passage of aerosol medicine through the exchanger without passing through the heat-moisture material.
