  • Publication number: 20120304954
Abstract: A cylinder liner for an engine includes a hollow cylindrical sleeve, with an inner surface and an outer surface, that extends from a first end to a second end along a longitudinal axis. The cylinder liner may also include an annular cuff-ring groove, with a radiused fillet region, on the inner surface proximate the first end. The cylinder liner may further include a hardened case formed on the inner surface of the sleeve. The case may extend under a base of the fillet region of the cuff-ring groove.

  • Publication number: 20120059254
Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for utilizing light, including ultraviolet, optical and/or infrared, for detecting a body in an object, such as biomaterial or tissue, animal and/or human tissue. The body or object may be made fluorescent by the use of dyes or agent. Light is used to illuminate the body and object and the scattered light, fluorescent and/or emitted light, reflected light and transmitted light are detected and used to reconstruct the body and/or object using an iterative analysis. Further, the method and apparatus may be extended to endoscopic applications to make subcutaneous images of internal tissue above, on, in or beyond endoscopic pathways such as esophagus, stomach, colon, bronchial tubes and/or other openings, cavities and spaces animate or inanimate, and in man-made or industrial materials as carbon/resin structures.

  • Patent number: 7158660
Abstract: A method to detect a structure of interest includes shading a target from ambient light. A first plurality of images is acquired from the target. Background in the first plurality of images is reduced to minimize or eliminate brightness variation in the images and to generate a first plurality background-reduced images. A second plurality of images is acquired from the target. Background in the second plurality of images is reduced to generate a second plurality of background-reduced images. Noise in the second plurality of background-reduced images is reduced to generate a noise-reduced image, which is then multiplied to generate an amplified image. A structure of interest is detected in the amplified image. An imaging device that can be used to carry out the method is also included and includes an illuminator that shades the target from ambient light and scatters light.

  • Patent number: 5692710
Abstract: An inflatable restraint is disclosed, and includes an elongated poncho having therein an air-tight bladder and a cervical aperture for insertion of the head of the individual. A front portion of the poncho is adapted for juxtaposition with a rear surface of a forward seat and a rear portion is adapted for juxtaposition with and between the back of the torso and a forward surface of a rearward seat when inflated. The front portion is longer than the rear portion and has a larger volumetric displacement when inflated and extends over the front torso and lower extremities of the individual. The rear portion extends over the back torso of the individual. An inflation means inflates the bladder and restrains the individual between the forward and rearward seats for protection of the individual during an emergency while traveling in a vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4230350
Abstract: A wedge-shaped bolt, slidable along an edge of an oven door opening engages a roller keeper on an oven door to force the door to tightly closed position and hold a door seal under compression. The roller keeper is resiliently mounted on the oven door seal.

  • Patent number: 4217876
Abstract: A firebox is provided having an end panel, opposite side panels and top and bottom panels, one end of the firebox being open. The firebox includes depending support legs and an outer housing including opposite side and end walls and a top wall is telescoped downwardly over the firebox with the front wall thereof sealingly secured across the open end of the firebox and the other end wall, the top wall and opposite side walls spaced outwardly from the end panel, top panel and opposite side walls, respectively, of the firebox. The lower marginal edges of the opposite side and end walls of the housing are generally horizontally registered with the lower ends of the legs and the firebox includes a grate spaced above the bottom panel. A fuel door opening is provided in the front wall above the grate and a draft door opening is provided in the front wall below the grate and above the bottom panel.
