  • Patent number: 7354445
Abstract: A system for treating a vascular condition, including a hollow guidewire, a core wire inserted through the hollow guidewire, and an embolic containment device. The core wire includes a tapered undulating section carried within the hollow guidewire. The embolic containment device is coupled between a distal end of the hollow guidewire and a distal end of the core wire. The tapered undulating section of the core wire provides frictional control of the embolic containment device based on a direction of core wire translation within the hollow guidewire. A method of treating a vascular condition and a guidewire-based embolic filter system are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20020019588
Abstract: A medical appliance for acquiring EEG signals from a patient's head applied solely to the patient's forehead comprising a frontal array of hydrogel electrodes. The appliance also comprises a clear dielectric layer, an electromagnetic shield layer, and signal traces from the electrodes to an appliance connector. The electrodes are generally rectangular in shape and are located at frontal positions according to the International 10-20 System. The electrodes further comprise a retaining mechanism and internal volcano tips to abrade the outer layers of the dermis for improved electrical contact and lower contact impedance.

  • Patent number: 5435069
Abstract: A method for determining the direction of a borehole during drilling comprises determination of inclination angle .theta. and highside angle .phi. from gravity acceleration (g) measurements and determination of azimuth angle .psi. from magnetic field (B) measurements along with the calculated inclination angle .theta. and highside angle .phi., the determinations being carried out in conventional XYZ-and-NEV coordinate systems coupled by Euler-angle coordinate transformations. In particular g and B are measured at least at two borehole depths such that .phi..sub.i does not equal .phi..sub.i+1, and .psi..sub.i and .psi..sub.i+1 are calculated from B.sub.i =[.phi..sub.i ].sup.T [.theta..sub.i ].sup.T {[.psi..sub.l ].sup.T B.sub.e }+B.sub.p with i as number of measurement, B.sub.e as local earth magnetic field, and B.sub.p as perturbating magnetic field.
