  • Patent number: 4522979
Abstract: The present invention is directed to thermoplastic molding compositions which comprise a blend containing a thermoplastic polyester, a polycarbonate resin and an impact modifier and an amount of a blocked polyisocyanate prepolymer sufficient to improve the impact resistance and gasoline resistance of said blend.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 17, 1984
Date of Patent: June 11, 1985
    Assignee: Mobay Chemical Corporation
Inventors: James Y. J. Chung, James W. Rosthauser
  • Patent number: 4522851
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an aqueously dispersed, heat-curable coating composition comprising(a) a water-dispersible epoxy resin component containing external and/or chemically incorporated non-ionic emulsifiers and(b) a water-dispersible, blocked polyisocyanate component containing chemically incorporated anionic hydrophilic groups in a weight ratio of component (a) to component (b) of about 1:10 to 10:1.The present invention is also directed to a process for producing coated substrates from these compositions and to the coated substrates produced therefrom.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 30, 1982
Date of Patent: June 11, 1985
    Assignee: Mobay Chemical Corporation
    Inventor: James W. Rosthauser
  • Patent number: 4501852
Abstract: The present invention relates to a stable, aqueous dispersion of polyurethane-ureas wherein said polyurethane-ureas contain(i) about 10 to 120 milliequivalents per 100 grams of polyurethane-urea of chemically incorporated anionic groups, and(ii) up to about 10% by weight, based on the weight of the polyurethane-urea, of lateral and/or terminal hydrophilic chains containing ethylene oxide units, wherein the counterions of the anionic groups are a mixture of volatile and non-volatile cations in an equivalent ratio of about 1:4 to 4:1.The present invention is also directed to the coatings and films prepared from these dispersions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 20, 1983
Date of Patent: February 26, 1985
    Assignee: Mobay Chemical Corporation
Inventors: Peter H. Markusch, James W. Rosthauser, Michael C. Beatty
  • Patent number: 4383070
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an organic polyurethane composition having a solids content of about 10 to 100 weight percent which comprises(1) isocyanate-terminated prepolymers which are prepared by reacting reaction products of the phosgenation of aniline-formaldehyde condensates containing specific ratios of isomers and homologues with polyether polyols containing at least two hydroxyl groups and at least one tertiary nitrogen atom and, optionally, an additional polyol which does not contain a tertiary nitrogen atom and optionally,(2) a monoisocyanate comprising a member selected from para-toluenesulfonyl isocyanate and the reaction product of 2,4- or 2,6-toluene diisocyanate or mixtures thereof with specific monoalcohols. The present invention is also directed to the coatings produced from the polyurethane compositions, optionally containing pigments.
