  • Publication number: 20230400636
Abstract: A method for producing a planar light circuit is specified. The method comprises: providing a substrate free of light producing regions, depositing a waveguide layer, applying a photostructurable mask on the waveguide layer, photostructuring of the photostructurable mask such that the photostructurable mask is removed in regions, etching of the waveguide layer in the regions such that channels are produced in the waveguide layer, wherein the channels confine waveguides, removal of the photostructurable mask layer, and singulating into a planar light circuit. Furthermore, a planar light circuit is specified.

  • Patent number: 9039472
Abstract: An apparatus for floatation of one or more persons on water includes a floatation device. The floatation device is sized for a single person and can be interlocked (i.e., secured) to additional floatation devices. Each individual floatation device is preferably made from an air-filled vinyl mattress or from foam. Each floatation device preferably includes at least one protrusion and at least one recess; however any desired combination of protrusions and recesses may be included. The protrusion of one individual floatation device interlocks within a recess of a second individual floatation device. A pair of retaining clips helps maintain each of the protrusions within the recesses. Any desired number of the individual floatation devices may be secured together to provide a larger overall floatation device for use by multiple persons while still providing each person their own personal floatation device.

  • Publication number: 20150012530
Abstract: A device may receive identity information associated with an identity, and may determine a relationship between at least one of: the identity and another identity, or the identity and an attribute. The device may determine a credibility score, associated with the relationship, that indicates a likelihood that the relationship is an accurate representation of the identity. The device may determine a confidence score based on the identity information and the credibility score, and may output or store the confidence score.

  • Patent number: 7889656
Abstract: Binned Duration Flow Tracking (BDFT) method tracks the duration of packet flows in a resource limited environment by storing packets identifying the beginning and the end of a flow in bins, with each bin covering an independent and arbitrary length of time. Bins are “aged” periodically, based on the range of time which the bin covers. A query as to the flow duration returns the bin number which that flow is in; the bin number is then translated into a range of time. Each bin is a counting bloom filter. The size of the bloom filters, range of the count, and number of hashes used are all parameters of the algorithm which affect memory usage, processing required, and accuracy.

  • Patent number: 7865584
Abstract: Network service performance monitoring apparatus and methods are disclosed. Performance information associated with a network service is collected from multiple service monitoring points. The service monitoring points include at least a service monitoring point in a first communication network and a service monitoring second communication network that is controlled independently of the first communication network. The first communication network could be a network in which a service provider system that provides the network service is located, and the second communication network could be a communication network through which the network service is accessible by a network service consumer. In this case, the collected performance information may be integrated to create an inter-network view of performance of the service. Historical performance information associated with a network service may be used to establish a performance baseline for the service.

  • Patent number: 7623466
Abstract: Symmetric Connection Detection (SCD) is a method of detecting when a connection has been fully established in a resource-constrained environment, and works in high-speed routers, at line speed. Many network monitoring applications are only interested in connections that become fully established, so other connection attempts, such as port scanning attempts, simply waste resources if not filtered. SCD filters out unsuccessful connection attempts using a simple combination of Bloom filters to track the state of connection establishment for every flow in the network. Unsuccessful flows can be filtered out to a very high degree of accuracy, depending on the size of the bloom filter and traffic rate. The SCD methodology can also easily be adapted to accomplish port scan detection, and to detect or filter other types of invalid TCP traffic.

  • Publication number: 20070294253
Abstract: Secure domain information protection apparatus and methods are disclosed. Service access information associated with access, by an external user that is outside a secure domain, to a service that is provided in the secure domain is processed to determine whether it includes sensitive information. If so, a protection action is performed on the service access information, on an entire service message or to one or more portions thereof, for example, to protect the sensitive information. A specification language and execution environment are also proposed to provide for high speed processing. Sensitive information detection criteria, protection actions, and possibly targets on which the protection actions are to be performed, may be identified in a data structure stored on a machine-readable medium.

  • Publication number: 20060209756
Abstract: An efficient method for providing both dedicated and simulcast services over a common wireless infrastructure is described. The services can be available to a single terminal as well as to a multiplicity of terminals simultaneously. The method uses time division multiplexing and orthogonal frequency division multiple access for simulcasting information and transmitting dedicated message information from a plurality of base stations forming a cellular pattern over the same wireless frequency channel. The method comprises the steps of constructing frames for transmission by the plurality of base stations comprising control information, simulcast information and dedicated message information within predetermined time slots of the frames and allocating the simulcast information and the dedicated message information to time slots of the same frame predetermined by the control information of the frame. The underlying modulation technology used is OFDM and thereby the channel delay-dispersion is minimized.

  • Publication number: 20050105512
Abstract: An analog telephone adapter (ATA) having a subscriber identity component in the format of a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) that couples a telephone to a cellular network via Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), thereby allowing a cellular service provider to provide an alternative communication service for the home or business. Instead of using the plain old telephone service, a subscriber can plug their analog telephone into the SIM-enabled ATA (SIM-ATA) and receive telephone service from a cellular service provider, eliminating or reducing the need for a traditional Local Exchange Carrier. The SIM-ATA converts signals from analog to digital, and vice-versa. Once the analog telephone signal has been converted to digital, an IP-based protocol (e.g., VoIP) can be used to transmit the telephone call over a digital network. The cellular service provider can then track usage and bill the subscriber accordingly.

  • Patent number: 6030637
Abstract: A bolus for delivery of pulsed doses of biologically active material to a ruminant comprises a series of distinct and separate bolus elements. Each bolus element is constructed of a degradable outer sheath and a core of biologically active material. The elements are adapted to separate following administration to the ruminant, and to disperse in the rumeno-reticular sac. In due course the elements degrade or corrode to release the biologically active material. Example boli include bolus elements of different respective corrosion characteristics and, as such, are capable of releasing pulsed doses of the active material to the ruminant.
