  • Patent number: 6669393
Abstract: A connector assembly for mounting turbomachinery including a link connector to be coupled to a clevis. The clevis includes a pair of arms and an opening that extends therethrough. The link connector includes a first end that includes an elastomer portion that defines an opening. The connector assembly further includes a support washer having an opening extending therethrough adjacent the link connector elastomer portion, and a fastener inserted through the clevis opening, the support washer opening, and the link connector elastomer opening to couple the link connector and the support washer to the clevis such that the link connector is coupled between the clevis arms by the fastener, and such that the support washer thermally insulates at least a portion of the link connector elastomer portion.

  • Patent number: 6641326
Abstract: A stud for interconnecting adjacent flanges of a flanged joint in a tubular casing. The flanges each contain apertures to receive the stud and each flange is inclined relative to the casing outer surface, with one flange extending radially outwardly and the other flange extending radially inwardly, as a result of which one end of the stud extends externally of the flanged joint and the other end extends internally. The stud includes an external formation that is of non-circular form and that is carried by the stud between the threaded ends to extend radially outwardly. The external formation is adapted to be engaged by an anti-rotation member to prevent unintended rotation of the stud. The stud is removable from the flanged joint without the need to completely disassemble the joint to remove a broken stud.

  • Patent number: 6607358
Abstract: A multi-component hybrid turbine blade comprises a shank portion and an airfoil portion. The airfoil portion comprises a composite section having a first density. The composite section comprises a recess and an insert section. The insert section has a second mass density, which is less than the first mass density. The insert section is disposed in the recess, and the insert section is bonded to the composite section. The composite section and the insert section together define an airfoil shape. A fabrication method comprising laying up composite material layers to form a portion of the composite section. The portion of the composite section comprises a recess. Disposing the insert section in the recess. Laying up additional composite material layers to achieve a final desired thickness of the composite section while covering the insert section.

  • Publication number: 20030068192
Abstract: A method enables a link connector to be coupled to a clevis. The clevis includes a pair of arms and an opening that extends therethrough. • Patent number: 6491497
Abstract: A rotor assembly for a gas turbine engine includes a bearing assembly that reduces dynamic loads to a support frame and static bending to the rotor assembly during periods of rotor unbalance. The rotor assembly includes a rotor shaft coupled to a fan and supported longitudinally with a plurality of bearing assemblies on a support frame. A number two bearing assembly includes a paired race, a rolling element, and a mounting race. The mounting race includes a spherical face and is secured to the bearing assembly with a retainer that plastically fails at a pre-determined moment load.

  • Patent number: 5655883
Abstract: A lightweight, impact-resistant gas turbine blade, such as an aircraft engine fan blade, includes attached-together first-metal and second-composite segments together defining an airfoil portion. The first segment includes entirely the suction side, leading edge, and trailing edge from the blade root to the blade tip and further includes partially the pressure side near the leading and trailing edges from the blade root to the blade tip. The second segment includes partially the pressure side from near the leading edge to near the trailing edge from the blade root to near the blade tip.
