Publication number: 20190147763Abstract: An illustrative mobile computing device executing weight, nutrition, health, behavior and exercise application software serves as a simulated combination personal trainer and dietician/nutritionist for the user using comprehensive databases storing personalized health, nutrition and exercise information. A mobile computing device, such as a smartphone, executing such software monitors, tracks and/or adjusts caloric intake, energy expenditure taking into account nutritional information and behavioral factors. The mobile computing device receives food consumption, exercise-related, behavior and other input using speech input and the device's GPS subsystem to ease data entry burden on users and to promote continued long-term usage. The system rewards user goal achievement in an automatic, seamless manner, through, for example, downloading music, books, or other media.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 9, 2018Publication date: May 16, 2019Inventors: Mark E. Nusbaum, Vincent Pera, JR., Jan E. Rhoads, Jennifer L. Nusbaum

Patent number: 8287398Abstract: A golf practice mat includes an impact sensor disposed in a vicinity bounding the location of where a golf ball would be placed for striking. The golf practice mat may also include, for example, a “crosshair” target imprint that is disposed on a golf club impact sensor portion of the practice surface and indicates the point/line of contact that the club face should hit the ground after the ball has been struck with the club head in a descending blow. A microcontroller receives and analyzes the output of the impact sensor and generates a display/output message that is coupled to a display that is, for example, embodied on the golf practice mat to provide user shot-related feedback. The display may indicate, for example, the user's golf club, the estimated distance the ball will travel depending upon the impact data analyzed, the club chosen by the user, input backswing data and/or a three-dimensional simulation of the resulting golf stroke.Type: GrantFiled: May 27, 2011Date of Patent: October 16, 2012Inventors: Mark E. Nusbaum, Jan E. Rhoads

Patent number: 6705060Abstract: This disclosure describes an apparatus for wrapping all exposed surfaces of a large annular coil, including its hollow cylindrical core, to prevent contamination and to prepare it for shipping. A pair of opposing robotic arms hand off or transfer a roll of wrapping material, such as paper or plastic, from a gripper on one arm to a gripper on the other arm. The arms travel around both ends of the coil, handing off the roll back and forth above the coil and in the center of its hollow core, as it is slowly rotated by a variable-speed coil roller. The speed of the coil roller is adjusted such that the wrap overlaps during each successive pass around the coil, thereby ensuring its sealed integrity. A compact variable-tensioning mechanism, inserted into the roll, maintains constant tension on the wrapping material to keep it taut while being pulled around the coil.Type: GrantFiled: October 24, 2000Date of Patent: March 16, 2004Assignee: Applied Technology Group, Inc.Inventors: James McGuinness, Jan E Rhoads

Patent number: 5214579Abstract: A data processing system is disclosed which manages, monitors and reports the growth of a participant's investment base with respect to progress towards achieving a predetermined target amount selected by the participant. Additionally, the data processing system monitors and controls a wide variety of financial services which are provided to the participant such as check writing and borrowing privileges as well as insurance benefits. The growth of a participant's initial as may be supplemented by monthly investments is tracked and interpreted based on criteria and projections which are periodically made and which reflect how well the account is progressing towards achieving the target amount. In this regard, the time frame that it will take for the account to reach the target amount at the current account growth rate is projected at periodic intervals, e.g., monthly. The impact on such a time frame of accentuated payments, e.g., increased monthly payments or modified cycle payments (i.e.Type: GrantFiled: December 22, 1989Date of Patent: May 25, 1993Assignee: L & C Family PartnershipInventors: Larry Wolfberg, Jan E. Patent number: 5210687Abstract: A data processing system is disclosed which monitors client's business orders over time and based upon predetermined criteria determines the client's vested interest in funds deposited into special client accounts. The business order data is stored in uniquely formatted client account files. In addition, a vesting account file stores summary data encompassing all the client files. The data processing system updates and keeps track of client's vesting rights which are subject to change over time. The data processing system's ability to track these and many other conditions is enhanced by a unique set of control status words which control software flow and which are utilized to visually flag important statuses.Type: GrantFiled: February 15, 1991Date of Patent: May 11, 1993Assignee: L & C Family PartnershipInventors: Larry Wolfberg, Brent A. Patent number: 4885685Abstract: A data processing system is disclosed which tracks each client's cumulative travel usage over time for the purpose of authorizing travel requests and ensuring a predetermined minimum return on an initial investment base. Such variables as frequency of use and level of service (i.e., first class, coach, etc.) are translated into cumulative cost figures which are carefully tracked and compared with a "travel ceiling." This ceiling is actually a constantly varying reference base line of maximum expanditures/usage available to the client at any given time to stay on course to achieve an expected return on the initial investment. The air travel related data is stored in uniquely formatted client account files which may be readily accessed and displayed. The data processing system's ability to track many travel related conditions is enhanced by a unique set of control status words which control software flow and which are utilized to visually flag important status conditions.Type: GrantFiled: September 18, 1987Date of Patent: December 5, 1989Assignee: L & C Family PartnershipInventors: Larry Wolfberg, Brent Wolfberg, Jan E.
