  • Patent number: 10464513
Abstract: The present invention relates to a front bumper system for a vehicle. A pair of front side members is arranged along a front-rear direction of the vehicle and arranged on opposite sides of the vehicle and on opposite sides of a cross member structure of the vehicle. Pair of crash box units are mechanically fixated to the front side members. A front bumper is laterally disposed and mechanically fixated to each of the crash box units. A lateral push element is mechanically fixed to one of the crash box units and being arranged to provide a load transfer path via the cross member structure towards the opposing front side member such that at least the front side member on the side of the lateral push element is moved towards the opposing front side member in the event of a crash.

  • Patent number: 6561170
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of reducing emissions in the exhaust gases from an internal combustion engine that has at least one cylinder to which an air/fuel mixture is supplied when a crankshaft of the internal combustion engine is rotated, at least one inlet valve, at least one inlet duct connecting to the inlet valve, at least one exhaust valve, at least one exhaust duct connecting to the exhaust valve, control members for controlling the opening and closing of the inlet and exhaust valves, and a piston reciprocating between a top dead-center position and a bottom dead-center position in the cylinder. The method comprises the steps of supplying a lean air/fuel mixture to the cylinder, controlling the internal combustion engine so that it works at high load, and controlling the exhaust valve so that it opens when the piston is located in the bottom dead-center position. The exhaust valve is preferably controlled so that it closes after the induction stroke has started.

  • Patent number: 6354078
Abstract: The invention relates to a device and a method for reducing emissions in catalytic converter exhaust systems for a vehicle provided with a combustion engine. The invention comprises a control unit adapted to control the air-fuel being fed to the engine so that a high concentration of hydrogen is generated in the exhaust gas during start-up of the engine. Furthermore, secondary air is supplied downstream of the engine during cold starting thereof for foaming a gas mixture with the exhaust gas. This gas mixture is oxidized, so that heat energy generated by means of this oxidation is supplied to the catalyst, thereby providing a reduction of the light-off time of the catalyst.

  • Patent number: 6246326
Abstract: A smart label printing system and method for printing smart labels is provided. The smart label printing system enables the expedited programming of the RFID tag component of the smart label so that delays due to the unequal time between printing the exterior of the smart label and encoding the smart label are avoided. The smart label printing system comprises a thermal printing unit to print the exterior of the smart label as well as an RF driver to program the RFID tag embedded inside the smart label. Methods are provided to increase overall throughput speed of the smart label, including prioritizing RFID tag data over exterior printing data in a RAM, compressing RFID tag data sent from a host computer, pre-loading fixed and regularly varying data, and predicting variable unknown data through the use of an artificial intelligence model. In addition, methods for uniquely arranging programming antennas and media pathways which act to speed up overall programming speed are also provided.
