  • Publication number: 20110072804
Abstract: A system for regenerating a particulate filter is disclosed. In one example, oxygen is pumped from the intake system of a direct injection turbocharged gasoline engine to the exhaust system by a compressor. Simultaneously, exhaust gases may be pumped from the exhaust system to the intake system for the purpose of reducing NOx while regenerating a particulate filter.

  • Publication number: 20100218675
Abstract: A gas separation apparatus comprising: a first chamber; a second chamber, separated from the first chamber by a porous partition; a first inlet for conveying a mixture of components to the first chamber; a first outlet for discharging the remainder of the mixture of components after at least part of the first component has been removed from the first chamber; a second inlet for conveying a sweeping component into the second chamber; a second outlet for discharging a mixture of sweeping component and diffused first component from the second chamber, and a pressure equilibrating device connecting and mediating between the first and the second chamber; and a separation process using the separation apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20100089034
Abstract: The description relates to an exhaust-gas aftertreatment system for exhaust gases of an internal combustion engine, in particular a diesel engine or a direct injection gasoline engine, said exhaust-gas aftertreatment system being arranged in an exhaust system and having a filter element and a catalyst element as exhaust-gas aftertreatment element. A portion of the engine exhaust gases goes to the particulate filter and the other portion of engine exhaust gases goes to the catalyst element. The outlet of the filter element is directed to the inlet of the catalyst element and the outlet of the catalyst element is directed to the inlet of the filter element. Thus, the engine exhaust gases are filtered and processed by a catalyst.

  • Publication number: 20100092349
Abstract: The description relates to an exhaust gas purification system for exhaust gases that are emitted from an internal combustion engine, in particular a diesel engine. In one embodiment, exhaust gases from the engine are separated into two streams. The two exhaust streams are processed differently so as to take advantage of different attributes of different aftertreatment devices.

  • Publication number: 20090131692
Abstract: Integrated preparation and separation process comprising a preparation process wherein a byproduct is produced; and a gas separation process wherein a first component is separated from a mixture of components by diffusion of the first component through a porous partition into a stream of sweeping component; wherein the byproduct produced in the preparation process is subsequently used as the sweeping component in the separation process, and an industrial set-up for use in such a process.

  • Patent number: 7453014
Abstract: The invention provides a process for the preparation of an alkaline glycol from an alkaline carbonate, wherein alkaline carbonate is hydrolyzed in the presence of catalyst in a baffled reactor. The baffled reactor has at least four compartments, the compartments are formed by internal baffles and the internal baffles provide a sinuous route for reaction fluid through the reactor.

  • Patent number: 7145045
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the preparation of alkanediol, which process involves (a) contacting alkylene oxide with carbon dioxide in the presence of catalyst to obtain a first liquid reaction mixture containing cyclic carbonate, (b) optionally removing carbon dioxide and/or alkylene oxide, (c) increasing the pressure of the liquid reaction mixture obtained in step (a) and/or (b), (d) contacting the pressurized first reaction mixture obtained in step (c) with water in the presence of catalyst to obtain a second reaction mixture containing alkanediol and carbon dioxide, (e) separating the second reaction mixture into a liquid effluent and a gaseous effluent containing carbon dioxide, and (f) recycling at least part of the gaseous effluent containing carbon dioxide to step (a),in which process the pressure in step (d) is higher than the pressure in step (a).
