Abstract: The assembly has a pair of opposed exterior plates containing slots for receiving an adjustment wheel threaded to a screw positioned in close association with gear teeth juxtaposed to the second end portion of a first elongated bar. The exterior plates enclose the second end of two elongated bars. The first end of each bar is positioned within oppositely positioned pockets in an orthopedic device. Gear teeth integral with the second end portion of the second elongated bar engage the gear teeth on a cam gear juxtaposed to the second end portion of the first elongated bar. The exterior plates are locked together with rivets to hold the gear teeth in position and permit movement or locking of the second elongated bar by manipulation of the adjustment wheel.

Abstract: A hip and knee abductor having a pair of leg securing members and a center pocket integrally attached therebetween. The center pocket receives an air inflation means capable of receiving, retaining and expelling air. The introduction of air in the air inflation means permits abduction of contracted legs. The unique use of the air inflation means permits the use of the abductor with fully contracted legs. A pair of rigid plates are inserted within retaining pockets formed in the pair of leg securing members for communicating with the expandable air inflation means and thereby applying lateral pressure to an inner portion of contracted legs.

Abstract: A patient hip guard is designed to be worn inside or outside of the clothing of the user. The guard includes a hip pad on each side, sized and configured to cover each hip, and consisting of an aesthetically pleasing pocket containing a pad having a configuration designed to approximate the femoral head of the hip bone. The pads are connected together by a belt adjustable in length to account for varying waist sizes. The inventive guard includes no buckles or other hard components that could cause discomfort to the user.

Abstract: An orthosis has a clamp designed to clamp the orthosis to the arm of a chair. Adjustment devices incorporated in the orthosis permit adjustment of the position and orientation of the orthosis in all degrees of freedom and the arm rest of the orthosis includes structure allowing an elbow receiving portion to be lengthened or shortened.

Abstract: A center abduction bar attached at opposite ends to T-shaped connecting elements held in place by thumb screws, the connecting elements attached to side plates conforming to the shape of a patient's thigh and a soft covering over the side plates. The center abduction bar has an inner bar and outer tube to permit adjustment of the center bar's width and to control abduction of the patient's knee and hip. A thumb screw on the abduction bar controls the width setting.
