Publication number: 20110173187Abstract: A conflict of interest detection system is provided. A data extractor retrieves a document and extracts author, title, and date information. A co-authorship finder finds out co-author relation among documents. A relevant group cluster identifies a key researcher in a particular field, and groups researchers connected to the key researcher as a group. A potential link finder identifies researchers who may have co-author relation. A relation filter filters out couples having weaker relation from the group having co-author relation. The filtered co-author relation data is then stored as a conflict of interest list.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 4, 2010Publication date: July 14, 2011Applicant: NATIONAL TAIWAN UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGYInventors: Hahn-Ming Lee, Jan-Ming Ho, Chiu-Yi Chen, Chia-Hsin Huang, Kai-Hsiang Yang, Jerome Yeh, Chieh-Hung Lin, Shou-Wei Ho

Publication number: 20050253838Abstract: A key-frame processor for computer system is provided to couple with the streaming server of the computer system to transmit a series of continuous computer image frames to a plurality of user sites. The key-frame processor for computer system comprises a key-frame reconstruction module and a key-frame selective streaming module. The key-frame reconstruction module is coupled with an instructor computer system to obtain image data transmitted by the instructor computer system to the streaming server, which image data represent image being displayed at the instructor computer. The key-frame reconstruction module reconstructs the obtained image data into displaying data representing the whole image as displayed, maintains data of the whole image being currently displayed at the instructor computer from time to time and stores the whole image data at the streaming server regularly.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 16, 2004Publication date: November 17, 2005Inventors: Shin-Hung Chang, Shao-Ting Lee, Jan-Ming Ho

Publication number: 20050083883Abstract: A mobile network agent is installed in any network system. The mobile network agent automatically obtains the identification information of a mobile device that requests to establish connection with the network system and authenticate the identity of the mobile device. The authentication information is notified to the network system and the home network or the virtual private network (VPN) server of the mobile device. Communication packages coming from the home network or the VPN are received by the mobile network agent directly and are transmitted to the mobile device. On the other hand, communications packages coming from the mobile device are transmitted to the home network or the VPN via the mobile network agent, to be processed by the latter. Under the present invention, even if the mobile device or its home network is not installed with the mobile network agent, a mobile device is allowed to roam from network to network via a network system installed with the mobile network agent of this invention.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 20, 2003Publication date: April 21, 2005Inventors: Jan-Ming Ho, Chun-Hsin Wu, Ann-Tzung Cheng, Chih-Chung Huang

Patent number: 6864901Abstract: A real-time screen recording system is disclosed. Under the design of the real-time screen recording system of this invention, the Event Inspector records updated regions of the screen when a windows update event is generated, the Periodical Extractor records the screen updates periodically. This mechanism ensures that all updates will be recorded. The Event Filter inspects the update events to identify events relating to updates of screen to ensure correct recording of the updated regions. The Sporadic Controller adjusts the working frequency of the Periodical Extractor, so that the Periodical Extractor operates in an efficient manner. The Update Region Filter filters out unnecessary updated regions to avoid heavy workload of the computer system. As a result, an efficient and correct screen recording system may be achieved.Type: GrantFiled: February 11, 2003Date of Patent: March 8, 2005Assignee: Academia SinicaInventors: Shin-Hung Chang, Shao-Ting Lee, Jan-Ming Ho

Patent number: 6141493Abstract: Architecture for filing variable-bit-rate (VBR) video data on zoned disks based on the character of the VBR data and the character of the zoned disk. A "constant read-time" approach is disclosed to determine the filing layout of data. In this invention, the distribution of the data is determined by the sequence of retrieving the data. A multistage graph is used to describe the structure of the filing architecture of this invention. The invention also provides a segmentation algorithm to reduce time and space complexities in the processing of VBR data.Type: GrantFiled: November 4, 1997Date of Patent: October 31, 2000Inventors: Meng-Chang Chen, Jan-Ming Ho, Ming-Tat Ko, Ray-I Chang, Wang Yu-Chung, Shiao-Li Tsao

Patent number: 6040866Abstract: A method for transmitting information data with a variable bit-rate (VBR) on a transmission channel with constant bit-rate (CBR) uses both a "lazy" algorithm and an "aggressive" algorithm. The "lazy algorithm" determines a transmission schedule where the smallest client buffer requirement and shortest working-ahead under a decided transmission rate may be obtained. The "aggressive algorithm" determines a transmission schedule whereby the highest utility rate of the network under a specific client buffer size may be obtained.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 1997Date of Patent: March 21, 2000Inventors: Meng-Chang Chen, Jan-Ming Ho, Ming-Tat Ko, Ray-I Chang
