Abstract: The present invention forms and seals the top end of a container prior to filling and bottom sealing. The top end may have a fitment attached thereon at a variety of different positions on a form, fill and seal packaging machine. The fitment may be a screw cap, a push-in, a flip-cap type or similar fitments. The container may be a flat top, tetrahedral or similar type container. The fitment may be applied on the exterior or the interior of the container.

Abstract: An apparatus for erecting folded carton blanks has a picking assembly for grasping a carton blank from a magazine. The picking assembly is disposed for rotational movement from a first position proximate the magazine to a second position proximate an abutment that engages a corner of the carton blank. A gate disposed for rotational movement is driven in a timed relation with the picking assembly. As the picking assembly moves from its first to its second position, the gate applies a breaking pressure which facilitates air flow through the interior of the carton blank. At or immediately prior to the time that the corner of the carton blank engages the abutment, the gate applies an erecting force that facilitates opening the carton blank to its fully erected state.

Abstract: A packaging machine of the invention includes a base folding-in arrangement comprising a first device carrying out a linear reciprocating motion and folding down one of the main base panels, and a second folding-in device which folds down the second main base panel partly overlying the first-named base panel.
