  • Patent number: 6992278
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for determining a home position by means of a home position mark on a special microfluidic device type used in a microfluidic system. The method for determining a home position by means of a home position mark on a microfluidic device used in a microfluidic system comprising at least one programmable controller having storage means, a position device being able to communicate with the controller, and a home position mark detector connected to said controller, wherein said method comprises the following steps: scanning a disc for mark edges; rejecting false home mark(s) and identifying a correct home position mark; and determining a home position by use of mark edges of the correct home position mark identified in the previous step. The present invention also relates to a microfluidic system and a computer program product and a computer program product on a computer usable medium.

  • Patent number: 6878555
Abstract: A method for dispensing droplets of a liquid to a microsystem in the form of a disc comprising a target area (TA0I) in its surface, said disc preferably being a microfluidic disc comprising a microchannel structure with an inlet port that is a target area (TA0I). The method is characterized by comprising the steps of: i) providing (1) said disc which has a triggering mark, and (2) a dispenser arrangement comprising: a) a spinner for rotating the disc around its axis, b) a drop dispenser permitting dispensation of droplets to inlet port I, c) a fixed trigger position outside the disc, and d) a controller which is capable of triggering the dispensation of a droplet into (TA0I) as a function of the triggering mark passing the trigger position, ii) placing the disc in the spinner and programming the controller with values for dispensing parameters that will give dispensation of the droplets to TA0I, iii) dispensing the droplets. The invention also comprises the dispenser arrangement as such.

  • Patent number: 6757935
Abstract: In a vacuum cleaner with a motor suction assembly (8) comprising a motor part and a suction part (6) providing a carrier air stream and a cooling air stream, respectively, the motor suction assembly (8) is built into a cover (7, 12, 13) with a cylindrical cavity (23). The cover (7, 12, 13) separates the carrier air stream from the cooling air stream, said cover thus being sealed (14) against the motor suction assembly (8) in such a way that the carrier air stream cannot be affected by the cooling air stream and vice versa. Furthermore, the motor suction assembly (8) is surrounded and protected by the cover (12, 13). In this way, a construction is provided using only one cover, eliminating the need to position two covers, one of which solely serves to separate the air streams, while the other cover, together with the first one, provide a compartment for receiving the motor suction assembly (8). Thus, in other words, two covers are replaced by a universal cover (12, 13).
