  • Publication number: 20180285704
Abstract: Surgical articles, such as sponges, are provided in a pack which contains individual surgical articles having UHF RFID or other electronic labels which provide both (a) unique identification information for each article as well as (b) unique identification information for all articles in the pack. Prior to the surgical procedure, the labels are scanned and the identification information for all articles in the pack uploaded to a processor to create a list of available individual surgical articles. At the end of the surgical procedure, the surgical articles are collected and the electronic labels read and compared to the initial list to determine if there are any unaccounted individual surgical articles. The UHF RFID tag may then be used to determine a location of the unaccounted article outside the patient's body.

  • Patent number: 6851557
Abstract: The invention concerns in one aspect, a ferrohydrostatic separation method in which a ferrofluid is used to separate materials of different density. In the method, the apparent density of the ferrofluid is controlled by means of a vertically orientated magnetic field generated by a C-dipole, open dipole (O-dipole) or split pair electromagnet or permanent magnet. Other aspects of the invention include an apparatus for use in this method and a process for separating materials of different density using the method.

  • Patent number: 5714824
Abstract: The conductor section is for a stator frame of a polyphase dynamoelectric machine. The stator frame is provided with a series of elongated parallel slots for receiving respectively conductor sections. The conductor section comprises two parallel conductor sides of substantially rectangular cross section adapted to fit respectively into two corresponding parallel slots of the stator frame, the two sides defining a plane; and at least one conductor head of substantially rectangular cross section, connecting two adjacent ends of the parallel sides. The head shows a substantially U-shaped body when seen from a top view perpendicular to the plane, and a waved-shape body when seen from a front view contained in the plane. The head having top and bottom surfaces facing only one side of the plane from one end of the head to the other end thereof. Methods for mounting conductor sections of stator winding onto a circular shaped stator frame are also described.

  • Patent number: 5619787
Abstract: A method for mounting conductor sections of a stator winding onto a circular shaped stator frame of a dynamoelectric machine. Each conductor section has two parallel conductor sides and at least one conductor head connecting two adjacent ends of the parallel sides. The stator frame is provided with circumferentially distributed parallel slots. One conductor side of each conductor section is inserted at least partially into a corresponding slot of the parallel slots. The other conductor side of each conductor section is positioned, one beside the other, along the stator frame. The other conductor sides are then circumferentially shifted with respect to the stator frame until the other conductor sides are superimposed respectively above the one conductor side for forming pairs of superimposed conductor sides.

  • Patent number: 4729827
Abstract: The invention provides a magnetic separator for the separation of a fluid mixture into a more magnetic portion and a less magnetic portion wherein the magnetic field generator comprise a pair of solinoid coils located opposite each other and between which a conveyor assembly carrying a matrix of magnetic elements and the fluid material to be treated passes during use of the magnetic separator.

  • Patent number: 4184066
Abstract: A reference source of heat radiation for the contactless measuring of temperature by photothermometry. The source includes a heat-radiating target connected with an electrically-heated ceramic heating element arranged in a protective guard. The guard is provided with a hood which protects the target from the incidence of light from the observed object, the temperature of which is being measured.
