    Abstract: An electric motor of the direct-current type, especially for automotive vehicles in which the motor is used for so-called motor braking in addition to normal drive, is energized through a time-delay network which ensures that excess voltage will not be applied prematurely. The time-delay network is rendered effective by a sensor responsive to the sense of rotation of the armature.
