    Abstract: Disclosed is a racking mechanism for a drawout circuit breaker including a cross shaft movably positioned in an enclosure and at least one input link in operable communication with the cross shaft via at least one connecting link. At least one racking cam is movably positioned in the enclosure and is in operable communication with the input link. Each racking cam has at least one cam slot receptive of a portion of the circuit breaker. Movement of the cross shaft about an axis of the cross shaft is capable of moving the at least one racking cam from an open position toward a closed position with the portion of the circuit breaker disposed in the at least one cam slot, thereby securing the circuit breaker in the enclosure and the at least one racking cam is in the closed position. A method for securing a circuit breaker in an enclosure and a circuit breaker assembly are also disclosed.

The system also includes a biasing device to bias rotation of the indicator toward the first position when the racking mechanism is in the connected condition and to bias rotation of the indicator toward the second position when the racking mechanism is in the disconnected condition.

    Abstract: A spring discharge mechanism for a circuit breaker is provided. The mechanism includes two linkages for crashing or discharging the circuit breaker compression springs to allow the circuit breaker to be used in either fixed breaker installation or in an installation having a drawout mechanism. The secondary mechanism includes a manual activation linkage that couples with an interface plate. The interface plate is coupled to an opening latch shaft and a closing latch shaft that cooperates to discharge the circuit breaker compression springs. An interface lever is also coupled to the interface plate. The interface lever includes a roller that interacts with a pivoting cam lever coupled to a drawout mechanism. The cam lever interacts with the roller causing the interface lever to rotate the interface plate, the opening latch shaft and the closing latch shaft.

    Abstract: Disclosed herein is a breaker interlock system. The system includes, a trip unit for a breaker, and a breaker receptive of the trip unit. The breaker is closable when the trip unit is assembled thereto and the breaker is non-closable when the trip unit is not assembled to the breaker. The interlock system is further configured to prevent disassembly of the trip unit from the breaker when the breaker is in a closed configuration. The breaker having a plurality of solenoids and each of the plurality of solenoids is in operable communication with the breaker to trip the breaker on command. A first of the plurality of solenoids is responsive to a signal from the breaker via the trip unit, and a second of the plurality of solenoids is responsive to an externally supplied signal from a source other than the electronic trip unit.
