  • Patent number: 8498265
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a method and apparatus for enabling a subscriber station to start a settings provisioning process in a WiMAX system. The method includes receiving a request from a subscriber station, the request requesting information for enabling the subscriber station to begin a settings provisioning process. A bootstrap document is then fetched, and a response is transmitted to the subscriber station. The response includes the bootstrap document and the bootstrap document includes the information for enabling the subscriber station to begin the settings provisioning process.

  • Patent number: 7876679
Abstract: Providing a data transfer connection according to a connection-oriented data transfer protocol between a first communication entity and a second communication entity using a wireless transmission path, the first communication entity being capable of using at least two wireless transmission paths in data transfer. A data transfer connection is established between said first communication entity and said second communication entity in so that the first communication entity uses one of the wireless transmission paths on the data transfer connection. The data transfer flow is controlled on said data transfer connection using one or more windows that indicate the maximum amount of data to be transferred simultaneously on said data transfer connection. At least one of said windows is adjusted based on the wireless transmission path used.

  • Publication number: 20080235048
Abstract: A terminal's home network service provider H-NSP determines that the terminal is connected to an access provider, and sends to the terminal a list of access providers and a list of service providers. The list of access providers indicates the H-NSP's preferences of the listed access providers relative to one another, and the list of service providers indicates the H-NSP's preferences of the listed service providers relative to one another. The terminal receives the list and connects to an access provider and a service provider according to the preferences indicated. Methods, apparatus, and software/hardware/firmware is detailed for implementing these aspects, from the H-NSP, V-NSP and terminal's perspectives. Much additional information is described that may be included in the preference lists according to various embodiments, and the invention is particularly advantageous for use in a WiMAX system.

  • Publication number: 20070211693
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for controlling a suspend state concerning a terminal device (MS) that is provided with both circuit-switched and packet-switched services by a communication network but that can only use: either the circuit-switched or the packet-switched service at a time. In a situation in which the terminal device (MS) enters into the suspend state in the packet-switched service in order to use the circuit-switched service, the method includes supplying information about the terminal device's (MS) entry into the suspend state to a gateway node of said communication network, such as a Gateway GPRS Support Node (GGSN) of a GPRS network.
