Abstract: A portable, electronic device configured to transform between a smartphone usage mode and a keyboard-based usage mode. The device includes (i) a base section and (ii) a top section that includes a touchscreen display that sits over the base section when the device is in the smartphone mode. A sliding carriage system enables the top section to both (i) slide back over the base section, moving parallel to a top surface of the base section, and then fully expose the keyboard, and (ii) then pivot so that the display is at a conventional reading angle to the keyboard.

A global community naming authority may be used to register online communities to create a universal unique identifier for each registered online community. A global community naming authority may be used to control generation of new online communities to ensure that a universal unique identifier exists for new online communities that may be used by online users. A method for naming global communities includes certifying a universal unique name for all registered and newly created online communities. Existing online communities may be migrated into a global community name database. Existing communities not formalized as online communities may be mapped into online communities by a global community naming authority.

Abstract: Provided are improved systems and methods for networking and internetworking personal servers and associated end-user devices in a modified peer-to-peer (P2P) format, or Peerouette-Net. A personal server, or peersona, may be part of a network of peersonas where each peersona represents a user of the Peerouette-Net. Associated with each peersona are the devices of the user, or edge-peers, that communicate with the peersona and through the peersona as part of the Peerouette-Net. The Peerouette-Net is a modified P2P network in that it consists of two levels of connection between end-user devices, rather than one level of end-user devices. The software that executes in the peersonas rather than the software that executes in the edge-peers may facilitate the P2P nature and functionality of the Peerouette-Net.
