    Abstract: A method for quickly de-allocating physical channels (PDCH) assigned to packet switched calls in a GPRS supporting GSM digital cellular telephone network. An PDCH de-allocation RLC/MAC control message is broadcast to listening mobile stations from a base station subsystem (BSS) and contains a temporary flow identity (TFI) which is recognised by the listening mobile stations (MS). The mobile stations respond by terminating packet switched data transmissions on the identified PDCHs. The RLC/MAC message also identifies the number of PDCH time slots which can be used before de-allocation must occur.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method for transmitting speech and data simultaneously on a circuit switched two-way connection of a mobile communications system, which transfers speech and other data by use of discontinuous transmission, DTX, in which the sending is discontinued when it is indicated, that there is no information to be sent, and continued when it is indicated that there is information to be sent. In accordance with the method of the invention, the data to be sent are stored in buffer means and wait to be sent. When it is indicated, that there is no more information to be sent, the data stored in buffer means are sent until there is no more data to be sent or until it is indicated that there is information, speech or other data, to be sent, in which case the sending of data is discontinued and the sending of speech or other data is re-started. So the transfer of data takes place as a background process during transfer of speech or other data.

The support nodes (SGSN, GGSN) are connected to an intra-operator packet switched backbone network (13). The serving support nodes and the gateway support nodes collect charging information on usage of the radio interface and the data network (15), respectively. The system is further provided with a billing gateway support node (BGGSN) connected to the internal backbone network (BGGSN) to receive user-specific charging information collected by the other support nodes, and to forward the charging information to a charging system.

    Abstract: For packet data transmission between fixed network elements, such as a mobile exchange, a base station controller and base stations, in a mobile communication system, a node-to-node packet data transmission in a digital mobile communication network is carried out by using network elements as packet nodes and by utilizing existing signalling protocols between them for transmitting data packets. Only a processing of incoming and outgoing data packets is introduced into the network elements. The normal signalling messages of a mobile communication network used for packet data transmission are only provided with a new identifier indicating that the message contains packet data, so that the packet data messages can be forwarded to the packet data processing, instead of normal signalling message handling.
