Patent number: 11834298Abstract: A method for modernizing an elevator system, includes using a first and second car for transporting passengers and/or goods between vertically displaced floors of a building, and thereafter removing the first elevator car from use for transporting passengers and/or goods between vertically displaced floors, and thereafter installing a construction time elevator into the lower end of the first hoistway, the traveling zone of the car of the construction time elevator covering only partially the height of the first hoistway; and thereafter using the car of the construction time elevator and the second car simultaneously for transporting passengers and/or goods between vertically displaced floors of the building, during which using the method includes performing construction work in the first hoistway above the traveling zone of the car of the construction time elevator; and thereafter changing the traveling zone of the car of the construction time elevator to extend higher in the hoistway, and thereafter using tType: GrantFiled: August 15, 2022Date of Patent: December 5, 2023Assignee: KONE CORPORATIONInventors: Markku Haapaniemi, Matti Räsänen, Tarvo Viita-aho, Petri Kere, Janne Laine, Jari Österman, Jorma Mustalahti, Anssi Venho, Jori Hägg, Otto Lanz

Patent number: 9840398Abstract: Diverting pulley arrangement, more particularly a diverting pulley arrangement of an elevator, which arrangement includes an axle, at least one diverting pulley that rotates while supported on the axle, a faceplate structure, in relation to which and supported by which the diverting pulley is arranged to rotate on the first side of the faceplate structure, which axle is locked so that it does not rotate by the aid of a locking element that moves in relation to the faceplate structure, which locking element is on the second side of the faceplate structure. When it starts to rotate, the end of the axle forces the locking element to displace out of its position and to trip a safety switch.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 2014Date of Patent: December 12, 2017Assignee: KONE CORPORATIONInventors: Jussi Paasisalo, Jani Nieminen, Jari Österman, Jukka Penttilä, Joni Kiiski

Patent number: 7527127Abstract: In the invention a method is presented for ensuring operating safety in an elevator system, an elevator system, and a safety device of an elevator system. The elevator system includes at least an elevator car, elevator ropes, an elevator motor, a traction sheave and at least two holding brakes, which holding brakes are arranged to prevent movement of the elevator car when the elevator is stopped. According to the invention the first holding brake is engaged at the end of an elevator run, and the other holding brakes are engaged with a delay. When one holding brake is engaged, the state of motion of the elevator and any slipping of the brake is monitored. If the brake is detected as slipping, a procedure for preventing a hazardous situation is performed.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 2008Date of Patent: May 5, 2009Assignee: Kone CorporationInventors: Jari Österman, Seppo Suur-Askola, Jarmo Myllynen, Simo Mäkimattila, Jukka Korpela, Joni Kiiski
