  • Patent number: 7999737
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for adjusting the beam direction of an antenna. The device has a source connection terminal to be connected to a signal source and at least two feed connection terminals to be connected to antenna element feed points. A feed line structure is elongated in a main direction at a distance from and in parallel to a fixed ground plane on at least one side of said feed line structure, wherein a movable dielectric element is located between said feed line structure and said ground plane so as to change the signal phase of signal components being transferred between said source connection terminal and the respective feed connection terminals. The device includes means for allowing said ground plane to be positioned relatively close to said feed line structure without risking accidental contact between said feed line structure and said ground plane.

  • Patent number: 7898489
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for adjusting the beam direction of a beam radiated from a stationary array of antenna elements. Antenna element feed points are coupled to a common source via a feed line structure having a source connection and feed connection terminals to be connected to the antenna element feed points, the feed line structure being at a distance from and in parallel to a fixed ground plane. A movable element is located adjacent to the feed line structure to change the signal phase of signal components being transferred between the source connection and the respective feed connection terminals. The movable element is movable for effecting a phase shift of the signal components to adjust the beam direction. The device is provided with a detection arrangement for detecting the absolute position of the movable element.

  • Patent number: 6954439
Abstract: The objective of the invention is to increase the potential hop density of single frequency TDD radio links by allowing a set of closely located terminals to use a single channel. This is possible when transmission and reception periods of the terminals are synchronized so that the transmit period of any of the terminals in a terminal group does not overlap with the receive period of any of the terminals in the group. Synchronization is achieved by selecting at least one terminal in a hub site as a super master terminal. This terminal gives timing through a common bus to the rest of the terminals in the group. These terminals use the received timing for adjusting their own timing i.e. for adjusting the starting moment and ending moment of the transmission and reception periods in such a manner that none of terminals is sending a burst while another terminal is receiving.

  • Patent number: 6714601
Abstract: Method measures imperfections in the digital quadrature demodulator from the amplitude of the output signal of the demodulator quadrature mixer, i.e. from the amplitude of a vector formed by the I and Q channels, are taken, at a rate based on a symbol clock of the demodulator, numerous momentary samples; a direction angle of the demodulator output signal vector corresponding to the samples is divided, on the basis of the voltages of the I and Q channels, into different direction angle sectors; and direction angle sectors or from a nominal value are calculated the magnitudes of the distortions in the demodulator operation. The method advantageously also includes a step wherein the measurement results of the imperfections in the demodulator operation are used for adjusting the operation of the demodulator by generating feedback loops, which correct all the imperfections simultaneously in an iterative manner.

  • Patent number: 6570933
Abstract: Method measures imperfections in digital quadrature modulator and demodulator operation, and to a digital quadrature modulator/quadrature demodulator. The modulator includes means for modulating quadrature-phase I and Q input signals to generate an output signals to generate an output signal including quadrature-phase I and Q components; means for taking momentary amplitude samples from the output signal of the modulator at a rate based on a symbol clock of the modulator; means for classifying a direction angle of the symbol to be modulated at a particular time into a particular direction angle sector; means for linking the amplitude samples of the output signal to the direction angle sector corresponding to the symbol to be transmitted at a particular time, and means for comparing amplitudes of samples belonging to each direction angle sector with other direction angle sectors or with an ideal value for determining imperfections of the output signal of the modulator.

  • Patent number: 6563801
Abstract: The cable interface unit in accordance with the invention allows use of the same wire in one cable both for base-band transmission of data between telecommunication equipment in full duplex form and also for transmission of an operating voltage (V) from one device to another. In the transmission unit, data is transmitted through a hybrid connection (41) to a cable (23). After the hybrid connection, the operating voltage (V) is also brought to the cable with the aid of a diplexer (44). The hybrid connection separates the arriving data and conducts it to the receiver, where the data is shaped in an analog manner by correcting level distortions and thereupon in the digital signal processing a DECISION is made on what the received symbol is.
