  • Patent number: 8669112
Abstract: Instrumentation and a method for efficient and reliable assaying and measuring samples. The teachings include an automated self-contained instrument, wherein the samples are located on wells of sample plates, and the instrument includes a plurality of units for processing or storing sample plates. The instrument may includes at least one dispensing unit for dispensing reagents or other assay components to the sample wells, at least two units for simultaneously processing or storing a plurality of sample plates, at least one unit for removing substance from the sample wells, and one or several measurement units for optically measuring samples in at least two measurement modes. Further, the instrument includes a manipulator for moving the sample plates in three orthogonal directions or combinations thereof and for rotating the sample plates in relation to a vertical axis for transferring the sample plates to the units.

Abstract: One object of the invention is to provide instrumentation and a method for efficient and reliable assaying and measuring samples. The teachings include an automated self-contained instrument for assaying and measuring samples, wherein the samples are located on wells of sample plates, and the instrument comprises a plurality of units for processing or storing sample plates. The instrument according to the teaching may comprise at least one dispensing unit for dispensing reagents or other assay components to the sample wells, at least two units for simultaneously processing or storing a plurality of sample plates, at least one unit for removing substance from the sample wells, and one or several measurement units, the measurement unit(s) providing a capability for the instrument to optically measure samples in at least two measurement modes.

  • Patent number: 6377346
Abstract: An imaging device for biochemical or medical samples, the pulse mode light source of which incorporates flash lamps and a rotating mirror in an inclined position, the said mirror reflecting the light emitted by each flash lamp in turn along the same optical path to the sample. The flash lamps are switched on alternately in phases and synchronised with the rotating mirror and the emission light chopper, which comprises two rotating discs. The turning mirror directs the light at the sample from above and/or below, in which case a double-acting transparent scattering plate can be used.

  • Patent number: 5548111
Abstract: A gain stabilization system for photomultiplier tubes using a pulsed light source, preferably a light emitting diode (LED), the signal of which is detected at the cathode and at the anode. The gain of photomultiplier tube is stabilized by keeping the ratio between the two signals constant.

  • Patent number: 5357114
Abstract: A method for use in liquid scintillation counting for detecting, recording and analyzing scintillation phenomena due to ionizing radiation in a device having a measuring chamber into which the sample is placed and which sample is measured with at least two light detectors. The occurrences of the measurement are recorded so completely that the measurement can be reconstructed and the analyzing principle can be decided afterwards.

  • Patent number: 5157250
Abstract: A gain stabilization system for photomultiplier tubes using a pulsed light source, preferably a light emitting diode (LED), the signal of which is detected at the first dynode and at the anode. The gain of the photomultiplier tube is stabilized by keeping the ratio between the two signals constant.

  • Patent number: 4687935
Abstract: The invention relates to a liquid scintillation counter comprising at least two photodetectors (2,3) for viewing a scintillation solution (1) in which both real multiphoton events and single photon events take place, and producing logic pulses and amplitude pulses in correspondence to these events, the amplitude of these amplitude pulses being a function of the number of photons that reach the photodetectors (2,3) for each of said events.
