  • Patent number: 10452716
Abstract: A technique for optimizing complex endpoint resolution in a hierarchical data structure. The technique includes maintaining an encoding between a path through the hierarchical data structure and the endpoint node of the path. When an input pathname corresponding to the path is received, the pathname is used to resolve the endpoint node from the encoding without traversing the path.

  • Patent number: 8930379
Abstract: A technique for managing distributed email content uses metadata to identify the location of email maintained on one or more data storage resources. When processing email content for display, the metadata is consulted and a display output is generated that presents a unified email folder view in which the email is represented. Email may be represented in the unified email folder view regardless of whether the email's data storage resource is accessible. Email content that is not currently accessible may be identified as being inaccessible. The email may be identified in the unified email folder view by specifying the data storage resource on which it is stored. The unified email folder view may also include at least one email folder representation that merges email content from more than one data storage resource.

  • Patent number: 8595238
Abstract: A tool for using an interconnected network of systems to create an index for a database table. An index advisor on a primary server recommends one or more indexes to improve efficiency. While resources of the primary server are being used by various queries and processes, the primary server sends the recommendations to a secondary server (with available resources) so that the recommended indexes may be built in parallel with the processes executing on the primary server. The secondary server builds the recommended indexes based on its own copies of the database tables. The secondary server sends the built indexes to the primary server, where the primary server must reconcile the indexes with any changes that took place to the database tables subsequent to the replication of the tables on the secondary server. The primary server makes the associations between the new indexes and the tables they were built for.

  • Patent number: 7844633
Abstract: A structured document storage and management technique utilizes a generic document model tree, a symbol conversion module and an encoded vector set to store structured documents. The generic document model tree represents a structured document model and contains one or more structured document nodes without storing node data unique to any particular structured document. The symbol conversion module contains untagged data associated with the one or more structured document nodes, and representing node data for particular structured documents. The symbol conversion module also maintains a value code in association with each untagged data element. The encoded vector set includes one or more encoded vectors corresponding to the one or more structured document nodes having associated untagged data. Each encoded vector contains one of the value codes at an index position that corresponds to a particular structured document.

  • Publication number: 20070282885
Abstract: A method and system for modifying a single characteristic of a set of related user interface artifacts. An XPath expression is used to select a set of nodes to be modified. A mechanism is then used to modify each of the nodes in the selected set in a single communication.
