  • Patent number: 8371396
Abstract: A drill pipe includes a pin end connector, a box end connector, a first communication connector and a second communication connector. The pin end connector includes a first region to form a threaded connection to join sections of the drill pipe together, and the first region includes at least one thread that begins at one end of the first region and ends at the other end of the first region. The box end connector receives the pin end connector, and the box end connector includes a second region to mate with the first region to form the threaded connection. The first communication connector is attached to the pin end connector and is located in the first region; and the second communication connector is attached to the box end connector and located in the second region to form a communication connection with the first communication connector.

  • Patent number: 8192213
Abstract: A wired tubular string includes a first joint having an axial bore, a box end, a pin end, a concentric inner conductor, and a concentric outer conductor; a second joint having an axial bore, a box end, a pin end, a concentric inner conductor and a concentric outer conductor; a joint-to-joint connection formed at the connection of the pin end of the second joint with the box end of the second joint; and an isolation assembly positioned at the joint-to-joint connection to operationally connect the corresponding concentric inner conductors and the correspond concentric outer conductor across the joint-to-joint connection and electrically isolate the inner conductor from the outer conductor.

  • Patent number: 7823639
Abstract: A structure for wired drill pipe includes a pipe joint having a pin end and a box end. The pin end and box end each have threads for engagement with corresponding threads on a respective box and pin of an adjacent pipe joint. A longitudinal end of the threads on the pin and on the box include at least in an internal shoulder for engagement with a corresponding internal shoulder on an adjacent box or pin. The internal shoulder of each of the pin and the box includes a groove around a circumference thereof for retaining a communication device therein. An external flank of the groove on the pin, and a corresponding surface of the box include deflection resistance feature.

  • Patent number: 7806191
Abstract: A drill pipe includes a pin end connector, a box end connector, a first communication connector having a plurality of first communication contacts and a second communication connector having a plurality of second communication contacts. The pin end connector is received by the box end connector to join sections of a drill pipe together. When the drill pipe sections are joined by the pin end and box end connectors, a plurality of isolated communication connections is formed between the first communication contacts and the second communication contacts.
