  • Publication number: 20110105347
Abstract: Polymorphic corn DNA loci useful for genotyping between at least two varieties of corn. Sequences of the loci are useful for providing the basis for designing primers and probe oligonucleotides for detecting polymorphisms in maize DNA. Polymorphisms are useful for genotyping applications in corn. The polymorphic markers are useful to establish marker/trait associations, e.g. in linkage disequilibrium mapping and association studies, positional cloning and transgenic applications, marker-aided breeding and marker-assisted selection, hybrid prediction and identity by descent studies. The polymorphic markers are also useful in mapping libraries of DNA clones, e.g. for corn QTLs and genes linked to polymorphisms.

  • Publication number: 20100293673
Abstract: The present invention relates to breeding methods to enhance the germplasm of a plant. The methods describe the identification and accumulation of preferred haplotype genomic regions in the germplasm of breeding populations of maize (Zea mays) and soybean (Glycine max). The invention also relates to maize and soybean plants comprising preferred haplotypes.

  • Publication number: 20090276900
Abstract: According to the invention, there is provided seed and plants of the corn variety designated CV596775. The invention thus relates to the plants, seeds and tissue cultures of the variety CV596775, and to methods for producing a corn plant produced by crossing a corn plant of variety CV596775 with itself or with another corn plant, such as a plant of another variety. The invention further relates to corn seeds and plants produced by crossing plants of variety CV596775 with plants of another variety, such as another inbred line. The invention further relates to the inbred and hybrid genetic complements of plants of variety CV596775.

  • Patent number: 7401528
Abstract: An apparatus for measuring stalk strength and/or root strength of a plant is provided. In accordance with various embodiments, the apparatus includes a conveyer operably connected to a motor for circulatorily driving the conveyer around at least one guide device. At least one pulling finger is coupled to the conveyer. Each pulling finger is structured such that, when the apparatus is positioned adjacent the plant stalk and the conveyor is driven around the guide device, each pulling finger will contact and pull a plant stalk as each pulling finger travels around the guide device. The apparatus additionally includes a force sensor for measuring resistive force encountered by the motor as each pulling finger pulls the plant stalk.
