Patent number: 9926958Abstract: A two-part fastener for an assembly having a sealed joint formed by at least two flanges or sealing surfaces. A first flange defines a first opening, a second flange defines a second opening with a seal being disposed between the first and second flanges. The flanges and seal are secured together with a bolt and a receiver that defines a threaded hole for receiving the bolt. The receiver includes an end face engaging the first flange and a shoulder engaging the second flange. The spacing between the end face and the shoulder defines a gap for the seal. The shoulder of the receiver may include a weld bead that is welded to the second flange. In one embodiment, three flanges are assembled together with a seal between each flange.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 2015Date of Patent: March 27, 2018Assignee: FORD MOTOR COMPANYInventors: Michael Peter Mongeau, Sai K. Patent number: 9419317Abstract: Air is supplied from a passenger cabin of a vehicle to an intake passage between the passenger cabin and a battery of the vehicle. The vehicle may be an electric vehicle such as a hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) or a battery-only electric vehicle (BEV). A signal indicating a blockage of air flow through the battery is generated in response to a difference in temperature exceeding a predetermined magnitude. The difference in temperature is between (i) the intake passage and (ii) the passenger cabin.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 2016Date of Patent: August 16, 2016Assignee: Ford Global Technologies, LLCInventors: Jesus Cardoso, Hsiao-An Hsieh, David Hayes, Beth Ann Dalrymple, Jason C.
