  • Patent number: 10904094
Abstract: In embodiments, a known network relation is generated from a known topology of a network and is sent to a first data source agent associated with a first tool configured to monitor the network. A first contextual topology of the network is received from the first data source agent and is based on the known network relation and first data associated with the first tool. An extended topology is generated by reconciling the known topology with at least the first contextual topology. In further embodiments, a derived network relation is received from the first data source agent. The derived network relation is sent to a second data source agent. Second contextual topology based, at least in part, on the derived network relation can be received from the second data source agent. An updated extended topology based, at least in part, on the second contextual topology can be generated.

  • Patent number: 9442945
Abstract: A data processing system includes a file system manager that organizes content into albums using a tagging technique. The file system manager comprises a filename utility that sets a unique filename for each file of uploaded files across a plurality of albums and an album manager utility that manages an album according to a list of tags. The tags include unique content file references and content metadata, whereby a file instance in a cross-section of the tags is included in multiple albums.

  • Publication number: 20130086228
Abstract: Systems and methods for robust, efficient, and secure client-server communication are provided. For example, one method of such client-server communication may involve receiving in the server a long polling HTTP request and a client status message, such as a file offer, via HTTP from the client. Such a file offer may indicate, for example, one or more files that are available for transfer from the client. Thereafter, the server may issue a command, such as a file request, as a response to the long polling HTTP request. Such a file request may request at least one of the one or more files that are available for transfer. There-after, the server may receive the at least one of the one or more files from the client via FTP.

  • Publication number: 20120095962
Abstract: A data processing system aggregates media content from multiple clients to a server. The data processing system comprises a media manager that aggregates media content from a client of a plurality of clients onto a server. The media manager comprises a monitoring utility and a server media update utility. The monitoring utility periodically checks for media files that are newly added in a client library of the client plurality and/or scanned from client storage, and detects newly added media. The server media update utility determines whether the newly added media. The server media update utility determines whether the newly added media is present on the server and copies the newly added media to the server if the newly added media is not present on the server or a lower quality version of the newly added media is present on the server.

  • Publication number: 20110264793
Abstract: A method and system for capturing digital content that is accessible at predetermined times from the Internet is herein disclosed. At least one embodiment of a method includes receiving data related to scheduled Internet content and providing at least a portion of the received Internet data as a schedule, the schedule including one or more content listings corresponding to the scheduled Internet content. Some embodiments include, in response to receiving a selection of at least one of the listings, scheduling a recording of the corresponding Internet content.

  • Publication number: 20110153571
Abstract: One embodiment of a system for analyzing client file systems in accordance with the present disclosure comprises a backup repository storing backup data of file systems of client computers remote from the backup repository. The system further comprises a backup server that analyzes the file systems of the client computers using the backup data at the backup repository and reports a problem detected in a file system of a client computer to a user of the client computer.

  • Publication number: 20110131218
Abstract: A data processing system facilitates organization of content such as digital photographs, video files, audio tracks, and the like. The data processing system comprises a content manager that manages a content database and includes a content database initialization or creation utility and a content database search utility. The a content database initialization utility creates a content database by assigning one or more tags that represents context of the content to content and combines the tag or tags with associated content in a data structure, and saves the data structure in a database. The content database search utility specifies a set of tag values representing context of content and initiates a database query for determining a set of content items that match the specified set of tag values. The content database search utility searches for the set of content items that match the tag values.

  • Patent number: 6684244
Abstract: A method for deployment of policy to a target connected to a network for the purpose of controlling the actions of that target based upon certain predefined conditions. The policy contains one or more policy rules with each rule defining conditions that when evaluated true trigger actions to allow or deny quality of service related resources (e.g., bandwidth or priority). Techniques are disclosed which provide for policy implementation in an aggregation rather than one at a time. The number of steps that a user must perform to implement policy in the network is reduced, the user can group a related set of policies, and all of the targets destined to receive policy changes can do so at approximately the same time, so device configuration changes can be coordinated. Having initiated an aggregated policy change, the user can track the status of the aggregate operation as well as the individual status changes which comprise the aggregate operation.

  • Patent number: 6345277
Abstract: The invention described herein is an apparatus for accessing an information repository, including computer readable program code stored on computer readable media, where the computer readable program code includes code for organizing information stored in the information repository into a hierarchy. The hierarchy is a hierarchy of a number of derived containers that are generated in conformance with an information model which is a hierarchy of type-defined container definition nodes. Each of the derived containers corresponds to one of the type-defined container definition nodes, represents a category of information in the information repository, and has contents which can be other derived containers and/or information extracted from the information repository.

  • Patent number: 6343291
Abstract: An apparatus and method for accessing an information repository, including computer readable program code stored on computer readable media, where the computer readable program code includes code for organizing information stored in the information repository into a location tree of a hierarchy of information, and the code creates a hierarchy of a number of derived containers that have contents and are generated in conformance with an information model which has a hierarchy of type-defined container definition nodes, where some of the derived containers correspond to type-defined container definition nodes that are location-based container definition nodes that represent a category of information in the information repository.

  • Patent number: 5644738
Abstract: A context identification system is implemented in a window manager to optimize association of menu items with windows. The context identification system has an application registration mechanism, a window creation mechanism, and a menu item placement mechanism. The application registration mechanism creates menu items to be placed in windows for display. Each menu item comprises a context expression, a predefined function specification defining an action to be taken by the window manager when the menu item is prompted, and a menu string defining a display image corresponding to the menu item. The window creation mechanism defines windows for display. A context list of context identifiers is maintained by the window creation mechanism for each window. Finally, the menu item placement mechanism determines which menu items are to be placed in each window based upon an evaluation of a context expression associated with each menu item and the context list of context identifiers associated with each window.
