  • Patent number: 8912924
Abstract: Among other things, one or more techniques and/or systems are provided for authorizing an action using vehicle identification information (e.g., supplied by a vehicle) and user identification information (e.g., supplied by a mobile device associated with a user of the vehicle). Such an action may relate to, among other things, refueling the vehicle, parking the vehicle, using a fee-based road segment, and/or other vehicle-centric actions, for example. Moreover, in one embodiment, as part of the authorization, a payment transaction may be initiated by an authorization system configured to authorize the action.

  • Patent number: 8759661
Abstract: A system and method for audio synthesizer utilizing frequency aperture cells (FAC) and frequency aperture arrays (FAA). In accordance with an embodiment, an audio processing system can be provided for the transformation of audio-band frequencies for musical and other purposes. In accordance with an embodiment, a single stream of mono, stereo, or multi-channel monophonic audio can be transformed into polyphonic music, based on a desired target musical note or set of multiple notes. At its core, the system utilizes an input waveform(s) (which can be either file-based or streamed) which is then fed into an array of filters, which are themselves optionally modulated, to generate a new synthesized audio output.

  • Publication number: 20130330457
Abstract: A method of modifying the taste of a consumable, comprising adding to a consumable base at least one compound of the formula I in which (a) A is selected from the moieties (b) n is from 0-7, such that X is absent or a linear alkylene group in which n is from 1-7; and (c) Z is absent and Y is a moiety selected from the groups —CHO, or —CH2OH; or (d) Z is present and is a C1-7 linear alkane, and Y is selected from —CHOH, —CO, or —COC(CH3)O. The result is a consumable with enhanced mouthfeel and/or creaminess.

  • Patent number: 8500816
Abstract: Implants, and processes for installing them, which replace the medial condyle and portions of the patellofemoral channel but preferably not portions of the lateral condyle that articulate relative to the tibia. Processes are provided which allow proper location and orientation of an anterior resection and a distal resection on the femur, which make use of a transition point which can be designated on the bone, for navigating proper positioning of such implants. Proper positioning of the implant relative to the femur for insuring a smooth transition between lateral portions of the implant and the lateral condyle is thus reduced to determining proper medial/lateral location of the implant on the anterior and distal resections.

  • Publication number: 20070135189
Abstract: An electronic device (100) having at least a first portion (102) and a second portion (104) is disclosed. The first portion is joined to the second portion by a mechanical connection. The electronic device (100) includes a first communication unit (106) present on the first portion (102), and a second communication unit (108) present on the second portion (104). The first communication unit (106) and the second communication unit (108) provide a first link for internal data communication between the first portion (102) and the second portion (104), when communicatively engaged with each other. Further, at least one of the first communication unit (106) and the second communication unit (108) provide a second link for external data communication with an external device when the first communication unit (106) and the second communication unit (108) are not communicatively engaged with each other.
