  • Patent number: 9260931
Abstract: A breakaway connection for a subsea riser, the connection including a tubular stabbing member having a central axis, an upper end, a radially outer cylindrical surface, a radially inner surface, and an annular recess in the outer cylindrical surface. The breakaway connection also includes a tubular female member having a central axis, a lower end, a radially outer surface, a radially inner surface defining a receptacle extending axially from the lower end, and a plurality of circumferentially-spaced threaded holes extending radially from the radially outer surface to the receptacle, wherein the stabbing member is disposed in the receptacle and coaxially aligned with the female member. The breakaway connection further includes a plurality of shear pins, wherein each shear pin is threadably disposed in one threaded hole, and wherein each shear pin has a radially inner end seated in the annular recess.

  • Patent number: 7040393
Abstract: The invention is directed to pressure lines for use with equipment associated with drilling and production risers, and in particular, pressure lines having breechblock connections with the equipment and with choke and kill lines for use in connection with different sized blowout preventer stacks (“BOP stacks”). The pressure line systems and choke and kill line systems of the invention include a breechblock connection for quick and easy removal and installation of the pressure lines to riser equipment and the choke and kill lines to BOP stacks. Additionally, the choke and kill lines of the invention may include a coupling system having a BOP connector, or plate assembly, for permitting one set of choke and kill lines to be used on various sized BOP stacks. The plate assembly is in fluid communication with a first choke or kill line connector.

  • Patent number: 6779543
Abstract: In some prior art Blowout Preventer (BOP) operating systems, high velocity fluid flows and low differential pressures induced vibration in the system. This vibration may result in collapsed and failure of hydraulic hoses in the system. A quick dump valve has been added at or near the open port on the BOP assembly to reduce vibration and other problems. The dump valve has a vent position and an open position. Several alternative embodiments add a ball check valve assembly to the shuttle in the quick dump valve.
