  • Patent number: 10315461
Abstract: A composite rim is used in spoked wheels, such as bicycle wheels. The composite rims has molded-in spoke holes. The composite rim is manufactured using a unique fabricating technique. The construction of the composite rim dramatically improves the bearing and loading strength of the composite rim over prior composite rims, which drill the spoke holes therein after fabrication of the rim hoop.

  • Patent number: 7484608
Abstract: A wheel hub with clutch where power is transferred through a drive, such as a chain that is linked between a peddle arrangement and a gear or gears splined onto the hub. The hub provides free-wheeling when torque is not applied thereto and will instantly engage, transferring an applied torque therethrough and into a wheel connected to the hub when torque is applied as through a peddle arrangement. For locking, the hub includes, as a radial load bearing component, a sleeve whereon a gear or gears are splined, with the splined gear sleeve mounting a thick ring for fitting into an end of a hub body. The thick ring contains spaced sloping slots, each containing a ball bearing. The hub body includes an annular ring that receives the thick ring fitted there and has spaced steps, or the like, formed therein to engage the ball bearing surfaces, transferring torque.

  • Publication number: 20040066085
Abstract: The present invention relates to a composite rim, comprising a tire-accommodating surface located between a first outer surface and a second outer surface wherein the tire accommodating surface is curved, an annulus-defining surface located between a third outer surface and a fourth outer surface wherein the annulus-defining surface accepts a spoke; and the tire-accommodating surface, the annulus-defining surface, and the outer surfaces enclose a cavity.

  • Publication number: 20020157916
Abstract: A wheel hub with clutch for a bicycle, other transport vehicle or machine where power is transferred through a drive, such as a chain that is linked between a peddle arrangement and a gear or gears splined onto the hub. The hub provides free-wheeling when a torque is not applied thereto, and will instantly engage, transferring an applied torque therethrough and into a wheel connected to the hub. To provide which torque transfer the hub is free-rolling in a clock-wise or forward turning direction, but will lock to transfer torque therethrough, and turns also in a clock-wise direction when torque is applied as through a peddle arrangement. For locking, the hub includes, as a radial load bearing component, a sleeve whereon a gear or gears are splined, with the splined gear sleeve mounting a thick ring for fitting into an end of a wheel sleeve.
