  • Publication number: 20240159000
Abstract: An infill composition for artificial turf fields comprising at least one layer of particles comprising ligneous-belt corn-based particles, the ligneous-belt corn-based particles include a particle size distribution of ligneous-belt corn-based particles with an initial dry size of 0.5 to 5 mm and a final size of 0.6 to 7 mm to after wetting. The infill composition can be installed according to a method of spreading a layer of ligneous-belt corn-based particles over a carpet that is on a base of compacted stone, wherein the layer of ligneous-belt corn-based particles consists of dry particles; watering the layer of ligneous-belt corn-based particles such that the dry particles are expanded after the watering; brushing the layer of ligneous-belt corn-based particles; and decompacting the layer of ligneous-belt corn-based particles such that the ligneous-belt corn-based particles are evenly distributed over the carpet.

  • Publication number: 20210254290
Abstract: The present invention relates to using olive pit particles as a portion of the infill for an artificial turf field. The olive pit particles are produced by crushing raw olive pits. The particles or pits are not treated with antimicrobial additives. Infills and artificial turf fields comprising such particles, or such particles in combination with the weight distributions and other materials disclosed in this application, exhibit superior properties compared to other infills and artificial turf fields comprising other organic materials and synthetic materials.

  • Publication number: 20180080183
Abstract: The present invention relates to organic infill for artificial turf fields. The organic infill includes at least one layer of particles having olive pit particles. At least 1% of the olive pit particles are particles that have a sieve size of 50 or smaller sized particles. The at least one layer can further include olive pit particles in other sieve ranges, sand, or both, and be intermixed in the at least one layer. The organic infill can also include a layer of sand overlaying a backing of an artificial turf field. The at least one layer overlays on the sand layer. The organic infill can further include a layer of olive pit particles or extruded composite. The layer includes olive pit particles having a sieve range different from the sieve range in the at least one layer. The layer overlays on the at least one layer.

  • Publication number: 20180080182
Abstract: The present invention relates to organic infill for artificial turf fields. The organic infill includes at least one layer of particles having walnut shell particles. At least 1% of the walnut shell particles are particles that have a sieve size of 50 or smaller sized particles. The at least one layer can further include walnut shell particles in other sieve ranges, sand, or both, and be intermixed in the at least one layer. The organic infill can also include a layer of sand overlaying a backing of an artificial turf field. The at least one layer overlays on the sand layer. The organic infill can further include a layer of walnut shell particles or extruded composite. The layer includes walnut shell particles having a sieve range different from the sieve range in the at least one layer. The layer overlays on the at least one layer.

  • Publication number: 20170058464
Abstract: The embodiments of the present invention are directed to a synthetic turf system that includes a hardened layer adjacent or immediately adjacent to a backing layer and also includes artificial turf fibers that extend from the backing layer and the hardened layer. The hardened layer may have been hardened by applying a hardening agent to a layer comprising felt or felt-like material. The layer comprising felt or felt-like material has characteristics that improves wicking and consistency of the hardening agent as compared to the backing layer. The hardening agent may also reach or apply to a backing sheet of the backing layer. Other embodiments and variations of embodiments are also contemplated.
