Abstract: A broadcast system, method and apparatus providing content on demand. In one embodiment, the disclosed broadcast system includes a server that broadcasts meta-data to a plurality of clients. The meta-data describes a plurality of data files that are to be broadcast or potentially broadcast later by the server. Each client receives the broadcasted meta-data from the server and updates and maintains a local meta-data table and a content rating table. Based on the meta-data, previous access habits of the user and optional user classifications, the client system selectively receives and/or stores the data files that are later broadcast by the server. In one embodiment, the client systems transmit back to the server ratings of each one of the data files described by the meta-data based on the user's previously accessed data files and optional user classifications. The server then determines the data files to be broadcast and the broadcast schedule based on the ratings received from the clients.

Abstract: Various embodiments for broadcasting and processing multiple data formats are described. In one embodiment, a method includes sending scheduling information that identifies an encoding format of a data broadcast and a video viewer application capable of processing the data broadcast. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Abstract: A method and system for partitioning television channels in a platform. A method involves creating partitions for a platform, associating each of one or more television channels with one of the partitions, determining a current television channel from the one or more television channels to display, and activating the partition associated with the current television channel.

Abstract: Gaming utilizing actual telemetry data. In one embodiment, a system including a source of actual telemetry data regarding an event, such as a sporting event, and a gaming application utilizing the actual telemetry data. In one embodiment, by utilizing actual telemetry data, the ability to play a game as if the game player were involved in a current sporting event, in real-time, is provided.

Abstract: §A service provider broadcast system and method are described. The method includes acquiring network service information regarding broadcast service content to be broadcast by a broadcast service system over a predetermined period. Using the network service information, a composite content list is created, including meta-data describing service provider content available from the service provider system and the broadcast service content. The composite content listed is broadcast to client systems, which in turn, provide ratings for the service provider and broadcast service content described by the composite content list. Using the received ratings, the service provider system selects a portion of the broadcast service content and generates a broadcast schedule for the selected content. The broadcast schedule is then broadcast to the client systems to enable the client systems to store one or more of the content data files from the selected portion of the broadcast service content.

Abstract: A method and system for associating and selecting a set of I/O components as a source or destination of I/O data directed to or from an application. A set of I/O components are modeled as a component object model which becomes a generic access device (GAD) for those components. Relevant interfaces to the components are instantiated within the GAD. The GAD then hands out the interfaces to applications wishing to access the I/O devices modeled by the GAD. The application is thereby enabled to carry out meaningful communication with the I/O devices to which the GAD provided interfaces.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for merging, displaying and accessing PC content listings via a television user interface are disclosed. At least one PC content listing is formatted into a television content listing format and the PC content listing is then displayed on a display device. According to one aspect of the invention, the PC content listing may be merged with at least one television content listing. According to another aspect of the invention, a command is input into a remote control, the command is transmitted from the remote control to a processing unit, the processing unit interprets the command into a corresponding action, and the corresponding action is executed to present PC content listings on a display device via a television user interface.
