  • Patent number: 7064275
Abstract: A cable management device traps and provides support for at least one electrical cable end connector which is located below an existing cable management hole through a work surface. In one embodiment, the cable management device includes a plate defining at least one aperture adapted to releasably receive an electrical connector. The plate is mountable directly to an underside of the work surface across a portion of the existing cable management hole such that the electrical connector is accessible from the top side of the work surface. Another embodiment of the cable management device includes a cylindrical sleeve adapted for mounting in a standard size cable management hole in a work surface, the sleeve including a lip protruding outwardly at a first end, the lip retaining the sleeve in the cable management hole, and at least one aperture defined by the sleeve, the aperture adapted to releasably receive an electrical connector.

  • Patent number: 6830299
Abstract: A mounting arrangement for mounting a door or other element to an article of furniture using an existing slide mechanism of the type known for use in drawers, wherein the slide mechanism is hidden from view when the door or other element is in both a closed and in an open position to enhance the aesthetic design of the article of furniture. The slide mechanism is mounted to a rear or interior surface of the article of furniture, and a bracket connects the slide mechanism to a door or other element which is disposed adjacent a front face of the article of furniture. In this manner, the slide mechanism and bracket are hidden from view regardless of the position of the door or other element. In one embodiment, a cabinet with a door connected thereto by hidden slides is provided, and in another embodiment, a display board with covers connected thereto by hidden slides is provided.

  • Publication number: 20040026998
Abstract: Low voltage DC electrification of a furniture unit is provided by a power supply having a rechargeable battery and an automobile passenger compartment power outlet which is electrically connected to the rechargeable battery. In one embodiment, the power supply is mounted to a furniture unit having a height adjustable worksurface, the lift motors of the furniture unit also being powered by the power supply. Additionally, the power supply may include a control device prioritizing recharging of the battery to times of off-peak or low-cost AC power available. The low-voltage DC power outlet advantageously receives adapter plugs that are readily available for a wide range of portable appliances and other devices. Another embodiment of a furniture unit having a low-voltage DC power supply includes a computing device for controlling the recharging of the power supply and for controlling other accessories such as furniture unit lift motors, lighting, HVAC components, audiovisual components, or other such devices.

  • Patent number: 6575777
Abstract: An electrified partition system having a plurality of panels interconnected with each other to form a plurality of work spaces. A plurality of receptacles are mounted in raceways located in the panels with each receptacle including a housing and a plurality of conductors extending from one end of the housing to the other end of the housing. The conductors terminate in respective terminals and define individual circuits. At least one electrical socket is disposed in a face of each of the receptacle housings and include a plurality of connectors positioned behind respective apertures in the housing face to receive a standard multi-pronged electrical plug. The connectors are connected to respective conductors which are fewer in number than the plurality of conductors so that some of the conductors pass through the housing electrically isolated from the connectors. Multi-circuit cables connect the terminals of the receptacles to form an electrical network.
