Patent number: 10231581Abstract: A dispenser device is generally provided for removable attachment to a flexible enclosure. In one embodiment, the dispenser device comprises a dispenser body which defines a cavity therein and a plurality of barrier sheets within the cavity defined by the dispenser body. The dispenser body is configured to be removably attached over a contact point or surface of the flexible enclosure (e.g., a curtain or the like).Type: GrantFiled: August 16, 2013Date of Patent: March 19, 2019Assignee: University of South CarolinaInventors: Jay Moskowitz, Michael Randall

Patent number: 9658509Abstract: A scalable apparatus and a network environment dynamically changes the light transparency of a single SPD device, a small number of SPD devices or thousands of such SPD devices installed in windows in automobiles, aircraft, trains, marine vehicles, residential homes, commercial buildings and skyscrapers. A scalable apparatus and a network environment dynamically changes the light transparency of a single SPD device or thousands of such SPD devices in the presentation of a multi-media special effects display. Textual messages, graphical images and simulated motion effects are driven. Such scalable apparatus being capable of driving and using several operational parameters of SPD's such as frequency range, AC voltage and temperature so as to provide fine control of SPD characteristics such as switching speed and power consumption.Type: GrantFiled: January 4, 2016Date of Patent: May 23, 2017Assignee: SPD Control Systems CorporationInventor: Jay Moskowitz

Publication number: 20160079834Abstract: A cogless electric generator consisting of a compressed nearly all copper air core stator placed within a surrounding rotor containing a plurality of permanent magnets is described which is particularly suitable for direct-drive integration with small-wind turbines. Such turbines become capable of generating electric energy at very low wind speeds. A particular focus is in reducing maintenance and operational costs of such a device by eliminating magnetic attraction of internal components typical of such generators and by reducing friction on bearings through the use of magnetic levitation. Techniques are employed to reduce eddy currents to increase the efficiency of the generator. Air scoops and air flow considerations combined with convective elements intimately in contact with and extending through the stator, allow heat directly from the stator to be dissipated externally.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 16, 2015Publication date: March 17, 2016Inventors: Jay Moskowitz, Robert Perless, Steven J. Hansel

Patent number: 8895940Abstract: The invention relates to a family of devices to be used for sanitizing switches. The device is placed around the periphery of the switch and contains a means for exposing the switch touch surfaces to UV light source local to the switch in order to maximize the exposure of the switch to the UV light source. Because the light is localized and directed toward the switch contact surfaces, the device may be used continuously while humans or animals are present without detrimental exposure to the UV light, ensuring a sanitary switch contact surface so as to reduce or prevent infection or disease resulting from transference of contamination from one person to another via contact transference with said switch surface.Type: GrantFiled: March 3, 2014Date of Patent: November 25, 2014Assignee: University of South CarolinaInventors: Jay Moskowitz, Michael Randall
