  • Patent number: 5335252
Abstract: A steam generator which finds particular application as a superheater and reheater for transfer of heat from the gas coolant of a nuclear power reactor to a secondary fluid medium. The lower pressure reheater is located inside of the nuclear pressure vessel containing a reactor core, as is the high pressure main steam tube bundle which is comprised of an economizer/ evaporator tube bundle stage and an initial superheater tube bundle stage. The remaining superheater tube bundles which comprise the intermediate superheater and the finishing superheater are located outside of the nuclear pressure vessel, where they are heated regeneratively by reheat steam which is emerging from the nuclear pressure vessel at a temperature higher than required by the reheat turbine, The main steam system can be designed for either subcritical or supercritical pressure operation.

  • Patent number: 5016514
Abstract: A capo for detachably mounting on the neck of a fretted stringed musical instrument for selectively raising the pitch of the instrument comprises an elongated spring bar having a length for extending across and engaging the strings on the neck of an instrument, an elongated elastic tension member connected to opposite ends of the spring bar and extending across the back of the neck of the instrument for pulling the strings into engagement with the frets of the instrument, and an elongated elastic cover for extending over and covering the spring bar and for extending over and covering the elastic tension member.

  • Patent number: 4585053
Abstract: A compact bayonet tube type heat exchanger which finds particular application as an auxiliary heat exchanger for transfer of heat from a reactor gas coolant to a secondary fluid medium. The heat exchanger is supported within a vertical cavity in a reactor vessel intersected by a reactor coolant passage at its upper end and having a reactor coolant return duct spaced below the inlet passage. The heat exchanger includes a plurality of relatively short length bayonet type heat exchange tube assemblies adapted to pass a secondary fluid medium therethrough and supported by primary and secondary tube sheets which are releasibly supported in a manner to facilitate removal and inspection of the bayonet tube assemblies from an access area below the heat exchanger.

  • Patent number: 4570703
Abstract: A tube support grid and spacers therefor provide radially inward preloading of heat exchange tubes to minimize stress upon base welds due to differential thermal expansion. The grid comprises a concentric series of rings and spacers with opposing concave sides for conforming to the tubes and V-shaped ends to provide resilient flexibility. The flexibility aids in assembly and in transmitting seismic vibrations from the tubes to a shroud. The tube support grid may be assembled in place to achieve the desired inwardly radial preloading of the heat exchange tubes. Tab and slot assembly further minimizes stresses in the system. The radii of the grid rings may be preselected to effect the desired radially inward preloading.

  • Patent number: 4227486
Abstract: A sanitary animal stall comprising a slatted floor structure, a generally Y-shaped trough communicating with the floor, an overlay mating with said Y-shaped trough. A method of flushing an animal pen comprising confining the animals on a slatted floor; providing a Y-shaped trough structure below and communicating with the floor; and lining the trough with a rigid and discrete overlay wherein the overlay has a very low coefficient of friction such that animal waste moves readily relative to the overlay.
