  • Patent number: 11160216
Abstract: A round baler includes a pick-up unit for picking up crop material from the ground, a baling chamber which receives the crop material from the pick-up unit, and a press mounted within the baling chamber for forming a bale during a bale formation cycle. The baler also includes a binding unit for dispensing a binding material for binding the bale, a tailgate displaceable by an actuator from a closed position at the beginning of a bale formation cycle to an open position to dispense the bale after the binding cycle. A sensor detects a first tailgate position after the bale formation cycle and before the binding cycle, and detects a second tailgate position after the binding cycle and before displacing the tailgate to the opened position. A controller is responsive to the sensor by determining a tailgate position change between the second tailgate position and the first tailgate position.

  • Publication number: 20200214219
Abstract: A round baler includes a baling chamber and a press means mounted within the baling chamber. A first sensor is disposed within the baler for sensing data related to a change in a diameter of a bale being formed in the baling chamber. A second sensor is configured to detect data related to a speed of the press means, such as a rotational speed of a drive shaft. The data related to the change of the diameter of the bale and the data related to the speed of the press means after each rotation of the bale are processed to determine a thickness of a layer of the crop material in the bale. The thickness is indicated in a display unit for an operator to view.

  • Patent number: 10334787
Abstract: A device for controlling an outlet flap of a baler in at least one manual and one automatic mode includes an outlet flap drive, a first and a second pressure line via which the outlet flap drive is selectively charged with pressure, a first pressure measuring apparatus operatively connected to the first pressure line, and a second pressure measuring apparatus operatively connected to the second pressure line. A distributor valve is connected to the first and second pressure lines downstream of the first and second pressure measuring apparatus. The distributor valve is disposable in a first pass-through position, a second pass-through position, and a shut-off position. In an automatic mode, the distributor valve is disposed in a predetermined position dependent on a pressure difference between the pressures in the first and second pressure lines.

The first and second pressure measuring means determine a pressure in each respective pressure line. A distributor valve is connected to the first and second pressure lines downstream of the first and second pressure measuring means. • Publication number: 20160374271
Abstract: A round baler includes a bale-forming chamber, around whose periphery drivable conveying elements are distributed, which can be set in motion by means of a drive train, in order to form a bale from material introduced into the bale-forming chamber, and feeding apparatus that is designed to move wrapping material from a storage reservoir in the direction toward the bale-forming chamber, in order to wrap a bale completed in the bale-forming chamber. A part of the conveying elements can be separated from the drive train during the wrapping process and can be coupled with the feeding apparatus, so that the said part of the conveying elements is driven by the bale to be wrapped during the wrapping process and the feeding apparatus is driven at a speed that is dependent on the respective circumferential speed of the bale.

  • Publication number: 20100122632
Abstract: An arrangement is provided for the wrapping of a bale. The arrangement has a drive for the introduction of a wrapping material into a baling chamber, a sensor for the detection of a physical size of a bale developing in a baling chamber, and a control arrangement connected with the drive and the sensor, to activate the drive based on the signals from the sensor. It is proposed that the control arrangement be operated to activate the drive looking ahead, based upon the detected growth rate in the size of the bale and the time delay between the activation of the drive and the exact time in which the wrapping material reaches the baling chamber, so that the wrapping material reaches the baling chamber when the size of the bale is equal to the desired size of the bale.
