  • Patent number: 6475039
Abstract: A contact pin for an electrical connector comprises a body, a connector element, and a sheath, the connector element being maintained in the extension of the body by being coupled with a peg projecting from the front face of the body, the sheath being disposed around the connector element and maintained on the body by clamping an annular portion of the latter. At the peg end, connector element comprises an end for coupling with said pin, conformed such that the pin cannot fit inside the cross section of said coupling end, the connector element being capable of deforming elastically to enable its coupling end to friction fit onto the pin, the thus deformed connector element being unable to fit inside the cross section of the sheath.

  • Patent number: 4696538
Abstract: A connector ferrule body has a flat inner surface perpendicular to its axis and at one end of an axial cavity in the ferrule body. A hub has an opening in which an optical fiber is fastened so the fiber extends perpendicular to a flat end face. The flat end face of a hub is seated on the flat surface of the ferrule body and held against the flat surface of the ferrule body by a spring. Openings in the side wall of the ferrule body permit insertion of tools to slide the hub radially on the flat surface of the ferrule body to precisely position the optical fibre within the body. The spring holds the hub in the adjusted position.

  • Patent number: 4368948
Abstract: A process for placing an optical fiber in a connector tip or ferrule and a connector tip for this process. The process is characterized by the fact that an outside protective sheath is removed along a predetermined length from one end of the fiber and the fiber is threaded through the connector top so that a portion of the fiber so stripped of its outside sheath is within the connector tip with the remaining stripped portion of the fiber projecting from the front end of the connector tip. The connector tip is then joined to the portion of the fiber still bearing its outside sheath by crimping and then that portion of the fiber stripped of its outside sheath is cut near the front end of the connector tip.
