  • Patent number: 9181823
Abstract: A device for controlling at least one valve, the device comprising a body having a non-deformable cavity communicating exclusively with the outside via at least four rectilinear cylinders that are closed respectively by an opening piston (P1) actuated by an opening cam (C1), a closing piston (P2) actuated by a closing cam (C2), a shuttle piston (Pa) serving to load or unload the device, and a piston (Ps) that is mechanically connected to the valve. By adjusting the angular phase shift between the opening and closing cams (C1, C2), the control device of the invention makes it possible in operation to adjust the lift of the valve, the angular duration of the opening of the valve, and if necessary, to deactivate the valve completely throughout the duration of a cycle.

  • Patent number: 7730866
Abstract: This device is designed for a piston which is designed to move in alternating linear movement parallel to the axis of a chamber divided by the piston into a high pressure volume and a low pressure volume, and is of the type comprising: a circular cylindrical sliding surface bounding the chamber, an annular groove provided in the piston which is coaxial with the sliding surface and open towards the sliding surface, and a closed resilient sealing ring housed in a leak tight manner in the groove and intended to make sealing contact with the sliding surface. According to one aspect of the invention the ring is designed to determine the size of a lubricating oil film between the ring and the sliding surface to a limit lubricating thickness preferably from 0.1 ?m to 1 ?m when it moves from the high pressure volume to the low pressure volume.

  • Patent number: 7313918
Abstract: A reciprocating engine includes a turbocharging unit that: supplies the intake manifold with air via a coolant; is supplied with gas by the exhaust manifold; and has the turbine supply pressure substantially equal to the compressor discharge pressure. At constant air temperature, the turbocharging unit delivers a substantially constant volume of cooled air when the pressure varies, and the volume is substantially proportional to the turbine outlet section. The turbine pressure is maintained substantially equal to compressor pressure by a EGR bypass between the intake and exhaust manifold. In addition, the volume of air is less than the volume drawn in at the speed so that a flow of hot gases is drawn in again via the bypass above the speed, where the volume drawn in is equal to the volume, and a flow of air is deflected towards the turbine below the speed.

  • Publication number: 20070062190
Abstract: This device is of the type comprising a high-pressure turbine (20) and a low-pressure turbine (14) which are arranged in series, and a bypass pipe (32) for the high-pressure turbine (20) which connects a charging pipe (26) to an exhaust pipe (28) of the high-pressure turbine (20). According to a feature of the invention, the bypass pipe (32) opens in the exhaust pipe (28) via a pressure-reduction nozzle (34) which allows the gases derived by the bypass pipe (32) to be discharged in a mixing portion (46) of the exhaust pipe (28) substantially in accordance with the direction and sense of flow in the mixing portion (46) of the gases which are depressurised in the high-pressure turbine (20), in order to increase the flow rate of the gases which are depressurised in the high-pressure turbine (20) by mixing with the derived gases.

  • Patent number: 6152109
Abstract: A device for injecting high pressure atomized fuel liquid into the combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine such as a diesel engine. The device includes a mechanism for delivering high pressure liquid fuel (16) such as a pump. The mechanism communicates via a cyclic communication device with an injection chamber (26) of variable volume having a movable element (27) returned by a resilient returning element (28) towards a stop (33), and communicates permanently with the nozzle cavity (10). The amount of liquid fuel is delivered to the injection chamber during the cyclic closing phase of a nozzle obturator (14).

  • Patent number: 5743168
Abstract: A device including a first moving part such as a piston (1) and a second moving part such as a connecting rod (2) with a coupling part (4) therebetween. A low-pressure compressible liquid lubricant feed system delivers a liquid into a chamber (10) with a variable volume between the second part and the coupling part, to form a pump supplying the joint interstice (16) to be lubricated, by a one-way connection (13, 15) and a resilient return member (11), wherein the interstice communicates with a cavity (17) with a fixed volume used as a liquid lubricant source. The volume, in relation to the pump displacement, enables a degree of deflection of the pump piston (3) while achieving a sufficiently high pressure and compensating for leakage.
