  • Patent number: 5661454
Abstract: A vehicle data display device which draws the attention of the driver to a particular sector of the road scene, including an optical system that presents to the driver a reduced virtual image of the road scene embellished with a luminous signal. The luminous signal can be used to designate a target for the driver and can be under the control of an onboard driving assistance system. The vehicle data display device can be integrated into the steering column or dashboard of the vehicle and facilitates perception of driving assistance or navigational data without the driver having to turn his attention away from the road.

  • Patent number: 5291338
Abstract: The invention relates to an optical device providing information to the driver of a motor vehicle, which includes a concave mirror (100), located below the lowered line of vision within the field of vision of the exterior, its concavity being directed towards the driver, and an imager (200) designed to direct a light signal to the mirror (100), characterized by the fact that the concave mirror (100) is defined by an O-dome.

  • Patent number: 4874242
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for detecting the presence of extraneous substances in a medium in the vicinity of a wall separating two mediums. The device provides in the medium I illumination of a wall under a radiation corresponding to the transparency of the semi-transparency of the material of the wall on a reference illumination zone. Directional detectors permit covering of the reference illumination zone, the mean direction of the reception cone having with respect to the mean direction of the beam an inclination such that the intersection volume of the beam and of the reception cone is a minimum.Application to the aid of driving of automobiles or airplanes and the control of industrial chemical processes is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4558456
Abstract: Apparatus for monitoring the level of liquid in a tank or reservoir comprises a probe formed by a resistive metal element having a high temperature coefficient, and a supply means for the probe. The apparatus further comprises a voltage-frequency converter which is connected in parallel with the probe, two counters which are connected in parallel to the output of the converter, and a subtracting means connected to the outputs of the counters. A time base controls operation of the supply means during a complete cycle to effect a counting operation of the first counter for a given period of time at the beginning of a cycle, a counting operation of the second counter for the same period of time but at the end of the cycle, and operation of the subtracting means at the end of the cycle.

  • Patent number: 4513616
Abstract: A hot-wire level detecting apparatus includes a micro-processor which registers a look-up table of digital level values associated with digital values of a differential parameter representing the change in the voltage or current in the hot-wire probe. The micro-processor controls a switch for initiating the application of power to the probe. In one embodiment a constant voltage supply is connected across the emitter and collector of a transistor with the probe in the emitter circuit and a resistor in the collector circuit. The voltage across the resistor, measured at switch-on and after a period for stabilization, is fed to the micro-processor by an analog-digital converter.

  • Patent number: 4371834
Abstract: A device to make a measurement of a variable quantity such as the speed of rotation of a first shaft or the speed of operation of an ignition system of an engine, wherein electrical pulses are produced at a frequency which is a function of the speed. The device comprises fixed first and second coils having axes in a common plane, and the planes of the coils are disposed at right-angles. Square waves corresponding to the pulses energize the first and second coils alternately, and each successive energizing of each coil is in an alternate direction, thus the magnetic field produced by the coils rotates continuously and rotates a disc magnet within the coils about an axis in the planes of the coils at an angular velocity which is a function of the speed. A rotor of conducting material in the form of a cylindrical cap over and about the magnet is integral with a second shaft coaxial with the magnet.

  • Patent number: 4163391
Abstract: A device for checking the level of a liquid in a tank, for example a car fuel tank, has an electrical resistance probe partly immersed in the liquid and energized with a constant current. The voltage across the probe at switching on is stored and used as a reference for comparing with the increased voltage after the element has been heated to a value dependent on the length of resistor cooled by the liquid.
