  • Patent number: 7032623
Abstract: The present invention relates to a flexible pipe structure wherein transverse displacement caused by buckling of the elongate elements of a tensile armouring layer when the pipe is being laid or used in deep sea is limited. The invention aims to reduce the play between the elongate elements of the tensile armouring layer so as to limit transverse displacement possibilities while providing the pipe with the required flexibility and mechanical characteristics. The elongate elements can freely move longitudinally in relation to one another to ensure flexibility of the pipe.

    Filed: December 10, 2002
Date of Patent: April 25, 2006
Assignees: Coflexip, Institut Francais du Petrole

  • Patent number: 6594608
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for determining a flexible pipe meeting specifications and consisting of at least one of the following elements: a body (1), a sealed sheath (2), a pressure layer (3), a hoop (4), an armoring layer (6), an insulating material layer.

  • Patent number: 6408891
Abstract: The present invention relates to a flexible tubular pipe for carrying fluids under pressure containing H2S and to a method for designing such a flexible pipe. The pipe includes a body (7), an internal sealing sheath (8), at least one steel armouring layer (9,10) withstanding the stresses induced by the inside/outside pressure difference, and at least one traction-resisting steel armouring layer (11, 12) spirally wound at an angle less than 45° in relation to the axis of the pipe. In this pipe, at least the armouring layer withstanding the stresses induced by the inside/outside pressure difference is made of a determined steel meeting H2S resistance criteria, and at least the traction-resisting armouring layer is made from steel wires that do not meet H2S resistance criteria.

  • Patent number: 5885913
Abstract: A prefabricated part made of vitreous fused silica for use as a refractory, and in particular, for use in repairing coke ovens, which contains over 90% by weight of SiO.sub.2. The prefabricated part includes about 20 to 50% by weight of vitreous fused silica having 1 to 6 mm grain size, 20 to 40% by weight of vitreous fused silica having 0.1 to 1 mm grain size, 15 to 35% by weight of finely ground vitreous fused silica having grains less than 0.1 mm in size, 1 to 10% of finely ground vitreous fused silica having a specific surface area according to BET larger than 20 m.sup.2 per gram, 1 to 10% by weight of cement and 0.1 to 8% by weight of a phosphorous compound.

  • Patent number: 5254222
Abstract: The device includes a sealing element fixed to the door of a coke oven, the sealing element having an edge forming a junction with the frame of the door, and a channel disposed on the periphery of the sealing element. A sealing gas at a pressure higher than the pressure of the gaseous medium inside the oven flows into the channel. The open side of the channel faces the door frame so as to form a buffer zone of sealing gas sealing off leaks created when the sealing element expands. The channel further includes a plurality of compartments provided with distinct means for supplying the compartments with sealing gas, whereby it is possible to adjust the pressure of the sealing gas in accordance with the places where the leakages are largest.
