  • Patent number: 4266874
Abstract: In an apparatus for measuring the sizes of fibers, said fibers are diluted into a carrier liquid in a container. The liquid is circulated by means of a pump in a main pipe through a chamber in which a vortex flow exists. A part of the liquid in the chamber is derivated through a small diameter pipe towards a photo-electric analyzing equipment.

  • Patent number: 4212005
Abstract: The invention relates to a movement detector, more particularly a sensor comprising a container partially filled with a liquid into which three electrodes extend. An input alternating signal is applied to two of the electrodes and an output signal amplitude modulated in accordance with movement of the liquid in the container, is detected from another two of the electrodes by means of a sensing circuit which includes a demodulator for detecting the amplitude modulation and a circuit arrangement which provides a container movement signal in response to successive peaks in the demodulated signal which are in excess of a given threshold value being spaced apart in time from one another by a time dependent upon the peak magnitudes of the demodulated signal.

  • Patent number: 4141349
Abstract: A process for the measurement in vivo of the degree of bone consolidation, characterized in that it consists of implanting directly on the surface of the bone a transmitter with its power supply circuit, the oscillation frequency of the transmitter being capable of varying about a predetermined value during stresses applied to the bone to which the transmitter is secured. Signals emitted by the transmitter are received on a suitable external receiver positioned adjacent the transmitter. The receiver output signals are utilized for various purposes, such as checking, measurement and recording.

  • Patent number: 4110741
Abstract: An individual monitoring device is carried by a person whose movements are to be monitored. The monitoring device comprises a displacement detector arranged to supply a continuously variable signal dependent on the positional changes of the device, signal processing circuit receiving the signal and at least one alarm device operatively connected to the signal processing circuit to provide an alarm in the absence for longer than a predetermined time of a signal due to the monitored person's "normal" movements. The signal processing means comprises a band pass filter for receiving the signal supplied by the displacement detector. The pass band of the filter only allows signals to pass which are due to changes in position of the device consequent upon the monitored person's normal movement.
