  • Patent number: 7255203
Abstract: A clutch couples a car door of an elevator car with a landing door of an elevator system, wherein the car door is movable with respect to the elevator car by a first actuator. The clutch includes at least one coupling element and a second actuator. The coupling element is movable with respect to the car door between a first position and a second position by the second actuator such that the coupling element engages with the landing door when the elevator car is within a landing zone and the coupling element is moved towards the second position, thereby establishing the coupling of the car door with the landing door. The second actuator is a linear motor.

  • Patent number: 7165653
Abstract: A flexible construction for an elevator gearless traction drive machine having a frame that is easily adaptable to traction sheaves of differing widths and diameters while providing the necessary stability for the drive components without an additional structure. The frame is comprised of a pair of frame members joined by a plurality connecting rods. The connecting rods can be mounted in various positions based on the diameter of the sheave to avoid interference between the drive mount and suspension means. Longer or shorter connecting rods may be used based on the width of the sheave.

  • Patent number: 7013605
Abstract: A door suspension assembly includes a ferromagnetic flat plate horizontally extending from a support rail adapted to be attached to a door frame above a doorway or entrance portal. Two supporting blocks each have an opening in which a cylindrical bearing with an axial hole is located. The supporting blocks are attached to a door panel. Connectors extend downwardly from the flat plate and support a tube that extends through the holes in the bearings. A magnet array is supported by an upper plate attached to upper ends of the supporting blocks with a small magnetic gap between the magnet array and the flat plate such that the magnet array generates a magnetic force lifting the supporting blocks and the door panel. A primary of a linear motor is attached to the upper plate between the supporting blocks and cooperates with a secondary located in the interior of the tube to move the door panel relative to the flat plate.

  • Publication number: 20050045426
Abstract: An elevator includes an elevator car supported on a scissor assembly connected to a drive mechanism. The scissor assembly has two vertical scissor columns each comprising at least one pair of arms that are pivotally movable relative to one another. The drive mechanism mechanically interacts with the scissor assembly for applying a force in order to move the elevator car upwards by unfolding the scissor assembly. At least one spring element provides a spring force which acts on at least one of the arms to provide an upwards oriented counterforce on the elevator car.

  • Patent number: 6832449
Abstract: A door suspension system includes a rail support attachable to a crosspiece of a door and having a part shaped as a rigid substantially flat plate that supports a rail. A pair of brackets, each having a connector, are attached to support block having an opening in which the rail is partially received. The connectors have a substantially C-profile embracing the flat plate and the rail. A support strip is attached to the connectors and is provided with a connection device for suspending the door of an elevator. A magnetic way is attached to the plate and an elongated primary of a linear motor is attached to the strip in such a manner that the attraction force between the magnetic way and the primary cancels at least partially the weight of the door. The door suspension system further includes a bearing of substantially cylindrical shape with an axial recess. The bearing is mounted in the opening of the support block to guide the rail.

  • Patent number: 5566784
Abstract: An elevator system employing a self-propelled elevator car is disclosed. One embodiment of the elevator system includes an elevator car (10) arranged for travel along a hoistway (12), a plurality of electric motors (16) disposed on the elevator car (10), a plurality of traction rollers (22) fixed to torque output shafts (20) of the electric motors (16) respectively, a pair of guide rails (14), which are in engagement with the traction rollers (22), extending along the hoistway (12). According to the invention, firstly, because the elevator car (10) is self-propelled by the electric motors (16) disposed on the elevator car (10), neither rope nor counterweight is necessary unlike some existing elevators. Secondly, the torque provided by each of the electric motors (16) is directly transmitted to the guide rails (14) via each of the traction rollers (22). Thus, on the one hand, there is a less complicated torque transmission mechanism with the elevator system.
