  • Publication number: 20080199618
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of strengthening brittle oxide pieces such as glass pieces with a siloxane-acrylate coating system that has superior weatherability, particularly hydrolytic stability. The coating system comprises a combination of a silane solution and a radiation-curable acrylate solution. The mixture is applied to a clean, brittle oxide surface. The silane solution comprises one or more silanes in a non-aqueous solvent and the radiation-curable acrylate solution comprises one or more acrylate or methacrylate monomers, acrylate or methacrylate oligomers, and initiators, such as photoinitiators.

  • Patent number: 5910360
Abstract: A glass article, especially of hollow glass, carries a coating resulting from the deposition, in one or two stages, onto the surface of the glass, of at least one monoaminosilane and of at least one lubricating substance such as an optionally oxidized or partially oxidized polyolefin. The coating provides desirable properties of wet and dry abrasion resistance (scratch resistance), substantial invisibility, and adhesiveness for labels. Articles having labels directly attached to said coating are also provided as well as the process for obtaining the desired properties.

  • Patent number: 5654062
Abstract: The present invention relates to an insulating composition for electrical cable comprising a mixture of an ethylene-alkyl acrylate or ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer and of a polymeric compound, said polymeric compound being an ethylene-alkyl acrylate-maleic anhydride terpolymer or an ethylene-vinyl acetate-maleic anhydride terpolymer, and usual additives such as, for example, a crosslinking agent, its use for the preparation of an insulation sheath of electrical cables and the insulation sheath obtained.

  • Patent number: 5522976
Abstract: The target element (2) is formed from an inorganic compound layer (16) with a melting point above 300.degree. C. deposited on a foam or metallic felt support layer such that the layer of inorganic compound sinks to part of its depth into the support layer to define a composite layer (17). In order to form the target element, a precursor system of the inorganic compound is applied to the support layer, the assembly so formed is subjected to a pressure of between 0.1 MPa and 15 MPa, the resulting assembly is maintained at between 300.degree. C. and 1600.degree. C. and below the melting temperature of the support in order to obtain a sintered assembly. Said assembly is than cooled to an ambient temperature avoiding any sudden cooling. In order to produce the target, the element (2) is glued to a metallic substrate (4) using a conductive adhesive.

  • Patent number: 4968319
Abstract: The invention concerns a process for manufacturing a double-layer electrolyte/electrode electrochemical sub-assembly comprising a positive composite electrode layer and a superimposed electrolyte layer, said layers each containing an ionically-conducting macromolecular material and having at their interface a physical and chemical continuum between the macromolecular material of the electrolyte and that of the electrode, and the sub-assembly so obtained. The process consists in depositing one of the layers on a support from a fluid phase containing the constituents of this layer, partially cross-linking the layer, and then spreading the other layer on this partially cross-linked layer from a fluid phase containing the constituents of the other layer and capable of dissolving the macromolecular material of the first layer deposited on the support. Application of the double-layer sub-assembly to the fabrication of electrochemical cells in the form of thin layers.
